Default Bose Blows...

I am looking to get rid of the bose h/u and speakers in my 03 Touring and read that you have to re-wire all the speakers when you do this? Any truth to that?

pretty much yea, there is a bypass thing you can do but IMO it's not worth the effort. I just ran new wires everywhere through the car.

Are you replacing the Bose amps?

^^ I see your point; but, he has made his decision and wants to replace the Bose for better equipment that provides better sound.

He asks a good question:

I'm interested in responses to his very good question.

I used the wiring harness and module that allows you to use the bose amps and wiring when I first installed my pioneer z3 and it was junk in my opinion. For some reason the volume I could get was even lower than with the original bose system but it does allow you to simply replace the head unit without a ton of wiring. I have since ran all new wires, door pods, amps, speakers, subs etc. If your looking to achieve better sound quality and volume then running all new stuff is the only route to go, not a single part of the bose system is worth saving. Keep in mind that this is just my experience and opinion, maybe some other members will chime in with some alternatives

i know, just replying to the 'bose blows' statement

you dont have to rewire anything special for an aftermarket double din, all you need is the adapter for that brand. I'd highly recommend the Pioneer AVIC line, especially the relatively new F series
