aftermarket speakers make a big difference?
does replacing all of the factory speakers with something better quality such as mbquartz or focal make a big difference over the stock non-bose? better bass and mids?
for those who have replaced the speakers, did you also replace the tweeter?
and also specify if you added a new amp or not
Thanks fellas,
Jordan

i ve been looking into jbl and infinity because i ve noticed that they're full range, can you suggest any better full range speakers? should i go 2-way in the front and rear or 3-way in the rear?
Yes - BIG difference. I have the stock HU and by putting in Infinity reference speakers in both fronts and rears, I have actually decided to stick with the stock unit now for awhile. Incredible difference!

I agree with the other posts: front speakers DO make a difference. My Redline track has MB Quart DSC-216 separates up front and they add a measure of detail (crisp highs, tight bass and clear vocals) that make me sit up every single time I listen to a fav. The install is in the stock locations and is totally hidden (and protected).
One other critical detail is to add an external amp to the package. I matched U.S. Acoustics USX2100 model to the MB Quarts specs and provide them with plenty of good, clean power. I think it is matching the combination of speaker and amp that really works the magic. The head unit remains as the stock (non-Bose) unit and the amp is mounted under the passenger seat. It also features speaker pre-outs, so wiring is not complicated.
The front soundstage is incredible and must be heard to be believed. In summary, I believe it offers one of the best 'bang-for-your-buck' mods for the Z!

any of you guys use the stock bose head unit with aftermarket speakers without an amp? how does that sound?
and what's the easiest way to connect an aftermarket amp to the front speakers? Just at the rear amp?

holy crap this is an old thread.
IMO, it would be better to install a HU as oppose to upgrading the components. Garbage in is garbage out. If you still don't like it, install an amp to power your speakers. You can also add a sub.
To install an amp, you need to run a few wires.
Power, from the battery to the amp.
Remote, to turn the amp on when you start the car
Ground.
+/- to the speakers.
You can get an amp wiring kit when you purchase the amp. It will have all the required items. Go to a stereo shop and talk to them. They should be able to help you in whatever you need. You can also listen to different components to see what you like.

I'm keeping the stock HU. I have nav and I don't want the lady's voice to disappear lol.
So far I have the RF amp, sony sub, just bought some Infinity Reference 6000cs components (for the front) and am looking to hook that up to the stock head unit.

Guys,
Since we are at this topic. I just installed the front speakers with Infinity Perfect 6.1 and using a Phoenix Gold R5.0:4. Thats just only 50 rms per speaker. The speaker pound like hell.
During heavy bass, i can feel it is hitting the speaker grill (i have trimmed the speaker grill down). Does frequent contact ruins the speaker, besides the annoying sound?
Side note:
I cannot imagine powering them with 100 rms? Anybody suggest i bridged the amp? I don't use the back anyways.
