Default OEM Satellite conversion

Anyone know if it is possible to connect the OEM Satellite receiver to an aftermarket headunit? I got a JVC HU and brought the JVC Sirius Connect, but found out that the OEM receiver uses a different connector. It uses a N-Bus connector verse a round connector on the JVC. Any harness or conversion kit out there? I tried searching on Google and Ebay, but found nothing.

You can try searching arond but I am going to go with a no. You might be able to get away with using the existing sat antenna but normally they dont make is so you can use factory componets on an aftermarket deck. You will come across using aftermarket equipment on the stock deck. My 350z did not have stock nav but my g35 did and if its the same tuner I think the antenna is reusable.

Even if you could find an adapter, it would probably end up running close to the same price as just buying the tuner.

Check with http://www.tss-radio.com/

If there is such a part, they'll have it.

I would check with JVC. An email to JVC's support/tech should provide either a "yes or no" if you can accomplish this, and if so, how to do it.

The wrong and bad answer from JVC would be

I guess the answer is no. I tried looking all over the Internet for the answer, but can't seem to find a conversion harness for OEM Satellite receiver to aftermarket head unit. I might have to get the SCC1 receiver and transfer the account over. But it is the wiring part that is going to be a headache. Damn it.

Do you have a smartphone with 3G internet? I only have an XM internet subscription (which I'm not sure they still offer, but I'm an old customer), and I use MusicDock or PocketTunes on my iPhone 4, which will pick up all the Sirius/XM channels. Sirius/XM also has their own app, but it doesn't pickup Howard Stern, which is just retarded. Your JVC has to have an aux input jack, though. You'll also have access to Pandora, Last.fm, AOL Radio, etc., using this method.

As an aside, my wife used to have an '05 Acura TSX, which had a native XM radio, but at the time I had a Sirius subscription. I installed the SCC-1, and it worked very well to pickup Sirius. Then she bought an '07 Acura TL-S, which also had XM, and it was easier to just buy her an XM subscription for that car, as the audio system was too complex for me to want to screw with.

BTW, did you call TSS Radio? We needed adapters (for the antenna and receiver) for that TSX, and they had them, although no one else did.

Finally, good luck converting your account with Sirius/XM from one to the other. They were major-league @-holes with me, even though I've been a subscriber almost since day one, and I ended up getting screwed out of ~$110. They claim to be two separate companies, two different sets of books, etc., and after maybe a half dozen phone calls, I just ate the loss.

The wiring is for the most part pretty straight forward. Most likely one plug and mount the antenna. Chances are you can also make the existing antenna work with only minor modifications.

I contacted TSS Radio and they said there is no way to keep the factory Satellite turner with an aftermarket head unit. So, I will be getting the SCC1 and port my account over. Thanks everyone for their input.
