Default Stuck, need HELP please!!!! BOSE w/ aftermarket AMP and SUB

So i got a JL audio 500.1 amp 2 ohm mono and Rockford Fostgate 2 ohm 500rms 12" woofer. According to the manual for the amp it said i have to use a line out converter so i bought one from best buy for 49.99 NOW

I have a stock 03 with Bose, I spliced the Line out convertor with LEFT +/- and RIGHT +/- rear speakers, and fed the rca cables to the amplifier input. Amp is powered on with 8 gauge power ground and remote wire (i know its a little thin ill be upgrading to 4gauge in a month), green light on the amp is on, but no sound from the sub. What am I missing? I've checked and double checked all connections and i am ripping my hair out i dont know what im doing wrong. PLEASE help guys

when you say the JL amp is 2 ohm are you saying that the lowest load it is rated at is 2 ohm

and the 12" is it a dual voice coil 2 ohm sub or a single voice coil 2 ohm sub

my guess is that it is a dual voice coil 2 ohm sub

so is it dvc or svc

are there any other wires on the LOC other than rca and R & L - & +

It is a dual voice coil 2 ohm sub. And yes there are three more wires on the LOC, power, remote and ground all of which are connected accordingly. I took a volt meter and measured the voltage coming off +/- off the speakers and im reading a little over 2volts. However when i check the voltage off the RCA cables going into the amp im getting none. I tried two brand new LOCs... same thing, 0 volts. So then i maxed out the gains on the amp and turned up the volume all the way up and i feel the sub playing very VERY quitely, but it does not hit. It seems like im not getting enough voltage in the RCA after the LOC. What am i doing wrong?

where are you splicing the LOC to?

when i installed my amp/sub combo i tapped into the wires before they went into the bose amp. the levels from the output wires coming from the amp are different.
I didnt use a LOC i used the line level input that came with the amp though.

Yeah it sounds like your LOC is spliced in after your Bose amplifier. Take your headunit out and install it as close to the headunit as possible.

Oh, and next time resist the urge to max your gains for troubleshooting purposes .

pac tr4 will work for you

it is a trigger low level module that takes a weak signal and strengthens it

Isn't that just for the remote signal? He said his amp is coming on but the RCA lines to the amp have no voltage so how would this help? Not saying you're incorrect by any means just want to understand your reasoning for the recommendation.

Correct, my amp is fine and its on. I tested the sub at my friends car and its definitely working. I can actually hear it playing really really quite. It seems like my LOC when spliced with rear speakers takes away the voltage. Cuz i get 2-3volts directly off the rear speakers, but once i connect it to the LOC and run the rca cables to the amp the voltage drops to 0. or .01volts. And its clearly not enough. I am still stuck and any suggestions would be welcomed.

I tried to avoid going to the back of the H/U and thought that line out convertor works with rear speaker post amp signal. Also i wouldnt even know which wire to splice it with. Does anyone have a color diagram?

Also can't I obtain a pre amp signal from the wires before they reach the bose amp behind the stock sub? What color wires would it be for rear right and rear left speaker?

Man I dont know about using the line out converter from Best Buy. I tried one of those and it never worked on my stock Bose system. Ended up purchasing a PAC-OEM unit, with no splicing of wires its a plug and play. Well worth the 115 bucks I spent. I just purchased a new 2010 370Z and the Pac Unit, and Zenclosure box is for sale if your interested.
