350Z Dash Kit Problem
Hi,
I have recently purchased a 2007 350z and I am changing the stock Bose head unit. I have purchased a double din unit and a dash kit and I am having issues fitting it, the dash kit doesn't fit my HU.
I understood that the standard double din dimensions are 180mm x 100mm (7" x 4"), this is also the size of HU. The dash kit I purchased was advertised as a double din kit but measures 176mm x 98mm and consequently does not fit. (See below)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TM:MOTORS:1123
Am I missing something here? Can anyone recommend a dash kit the will fit the correct standard double din dimensions (180mm x 100mm)?
Thanks for the help

The big question is......
What deck are you running? If it is an Ebay Chinese branded el cheapo double din deck then that is the problem right there. I have found that most of these cheapie knock-offs are oversized in both width and height. In this case I usually have to trim down the kit a couple of mm's to make the deck fit in which case I charge accordingly for that.
But I usually send the customer away or sell them a proper double din deck. Now, if you have an Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Clarion or whatever name brand deck then the kit is defective or just needs to be trimmed down.

Thanks for the links guys.
Yes its an ebay unit, however I have measured the face of it and its 180mm x 100mm which from what I found online is the standard double din dimensions. It was the dash kit that measured up too small although advertise as double din dash kit.
I will try this kit (below) and it should fit, if for any reason it doesn't il have to trim it down.

With this wiring harness will I still need the PAC ROEM-NIS2 or will this solve the problem?

I have heard nothing bad about the Metra Kits:

I believe they have one for the 07 and up, actually cheaper, as well. I've just ordered mine and can't wait to install my Kenwood HU.

Sorry if this is off topic, but I would like to know:
a) where to buy the metra (or another preferred) dash kit?
b) Is there really a diff between the year models? I have an 04 model 350z with Bose.
I have a Double Din JVC in there now that I wanna sell and get a single din Alpine. (Good double din units are rare or expensive)

And yes the years matter because they started using a different type of center/cubby/console after 05' I believe.

Hey Orgasm_Donor, I just purchased a Kenwood DNX HU and it has the KCA-BT300 bluetooth mic, and the gps antenna. I was just wondering on how you, the proffesional, would install it on a Z? Would you snake it through the speedometer and up the A-piller? This is my first time installing a HU and optimal mic placement is throwing me off. Any advice you can give me would be awesome!

Thanks for the help
