Replacing stereo in a 2008
Hi there! I recently purchased a 2008 and it came with a nice Bose factory stereo with a 6 disc changer/dvd in the back as well as navigation. Unfortunately, I am unable to get Sirius radio or plug in my iPod. I was considering having it replaced to a newer head unit that has an aux output and is xm ready possibly from Best Buy and having them professionally install it. I'm wondering if this is a good idea or if I may run into problems with the navigation, etc. Crutchfield has an auxiliary kit I could purchase for $100 that would take care of my iPod issue. But I really enjoy Sirius radio as well. I saw some dock and play kits for that but that's another $100. Which I can get a newer nicer head unit for the amount I would spend purchasing these two items. Was hoping for opinions/advice on the best thing for me to do here. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Correct, and the best way to have SiriusXM is to use the phone app and plug the phone into your head unit. Otherwise, if you get a SiriusXM receiver for your car. You'll have to pay a separate subscription fee for it. I've been using the phone app for several years, plugging my iPhone into a Kenwood head unit, and it works great.
Yeah no
I just did my Bose headunit (it was causing drain and dead car in 2 days) and have no complains. Could it be better? Yeah but I driveto the track in the car and it does everything I need.
And the xm plug in phone bs. I've had Xm in all my cars since 2009 and have never ever ever plugged in my phone to use it. The point is I don't need to plug in **** and I have it in the radio. Either way your paying a subscription, and 5.99 a month is no skin off my bones

Why are you so opposed to using your iPhone in conjunction with your car’s HU?dcains’ suggestion works very well.

You are sounding rather obsessive.
In fact… no matter how sophisticated and complete your CES, you may come to a point that you want to add something more… and that might be a “plug-in” instead of hard-wired. Technology is moving very fast.
Hey… It happens… What can I say?
Don’t discount “plug-ins.”

This is how I did before the Bluetooth.
