Are you able to play a DVD while the car is driving?

I take it the control wire just loses the ground when the parking brake isn't engaged?

What's the quality of the screen compared to say an Alpine unit? I had an Alpine in-dash fold-out screen in a previous car, would like this unit but the screen looks a bit off.

What do you guys think about the KENWOOD P-NAV7015? It is the DVD player and navigation combo? You can buy them together online for about $1700!

Its a great unit! Had mine like 3-4 months now...

As for hookup, I am assuming you dont have NAV, right? Install shouldnt be more than 100-150.00 at good guys, best buy, or circuit city. I am also assuming that you are not replacing aqny speakers, or adding an amp?

You can only expect marginal gains on quality if you continue to power it through the Blose amp. The amp and speakers are part of the problem. It drops the impedance(ohms) down to like 1-2 ohms which can only allow for partial sound quality.

as for the hookup of the unit, simply take the green wire, and have them hook it up to anywhere on the body of the car. BESIDES THE PARKING BRAKE! That is the thing that determines whether the car is stopped or not. When you pull the e brake, it connects ground to the chassis of the car. Otherwise it is not grounded. So a 'tricky' way to get you to limit the use of the DVD function while driving.

Anyway,

Have fun

Question Radio-Replacement also here

Hi Guys,

maybe someone could me help out, especially lopchild or someone else who has replaced only the fatory installed radio...

I live in Germany and own a 350Z since May 04. I want to replace the factory installed BOSE-Radio with the Kenwood DDX7025 (should be the same as 7015).
But things are a little difficult here:
I don´t know the equipment of the American version of the Z exactly but there seems to be some differences to the German version.

My car is equiped (factory installations) with the following parts which need the BOSE-radio to operate properly:
- Cell phone with cradle in the middle-arm-rest
- Navigation system (uses the left front speaker for audio output, installed in the deposition shelf compartment behind the passenger seat, separate single monitor placed the the center console)
- remote controls on the steering wheel (next, previous track or channel, volume control, controls for the chell phone to initiate or to end a call, cruise control)
- installed microphone to use the cell phone (could be installed directly to the cradle without having a connection to the radio), speech recognition to call a number by name or by giving the phone-number
- installed microphone (maybe the same as mentioned above) for the BOSE-Audio Pilot (maybe installed directly to the amplifier without connection to the radio)

Here is the funny part
I want to replace the installed BOSE-radio with the Kenwood DDX7025/7015 and of course the remote controls on the steering wheel, the audio-output of the navigation system and the cell-phone (audio in/out) should be working. I don´t want to replace the whole audio equipment (amplifier, speakers...) with a new one only to get a new radio with the ability to play MP3-songs of a DVD-R. This should be the last option, because its a little bit expensive and I don´t need much more audio-quality.

Maybe someone could me help out.
Any help is appreciated.

Sorry for my English, but I hope you understand my request. If there are any questions I left open please don´t hesitate to write a reply or PM.

Thx
Michael

WHOA! That's a bit high. For that price I got my DDX7015, satellite tuner and antenna, 2x60 amp, Kenwood Excelon front components, and all wiring for the same... all from an authorized Kenwood dealer so it has full warranty backing.

Install should be completed this weekend with prep to later add a larger LCD screen in the hatch and an Xbox or PS2!

[edit] disregard prior statement... I see now that price was for the DDX and the matching NAV unit. So it's actually a good price!
