I have the Pioneer DVH-P5000MP, I love it. There's nothing it won't play, it's awesome.

What kind of system are you planning on building?

 

2 JL Audio 10w3v2, 500w JL Audio amp. Not sure on what else

 

One of the links doesn't work for me. Which Clarion are you considering? I was going to get the 845MX but chose a Kenwood KDC-X879. They both looked like great units

If you're not going to hook up any kind of video system I don't think you need this head unit.

You can get the same pioneer head unit but without the DVD player for alot cheaper.

 

Well, I personally was going to go with the Clarion Pro DXZ945MP, but instead went with the Pioneer DEH-8600MP at the last minute. A lot of people apparently agree that Clarion is crap...I really thought for a long time I would get the clarion...I love the way it works, etc., but Pioneer was a BIT cheaper and the color screen got me in the end, especially because you can make your own screensavers/movies, backgrounds...and it's very, very good quality...

 

Not to be off-topic, but I'll sell you my Pioneer 9300. Went for over $899 at Best Buy in 1999, I'll sell for $175 shipped.
Comes with a steering wheel remote and a microphone for auto EQ settings. Its a nice system.

What sup with Clarion? They seem to have all the features, good reviews, price, and looks but still get a bum rap? They seem to have a crappy resale value too (the one's I see used on E-bay). Is it jut the name?

 

Went with the pioneer, looking into screen for my navi space. So I can utilize the DVD option. Thanks for the advise.

 

I'd go with Clarion. Not sure why people think its crap. Maybe because it went into every single car in Pimp My Ride.

 

For the screen, get either the Farenheit 7000 or the 7001. Same size just more/less inputs. Fits perfectly with no trimming or modification, it's what I have in mine.

 

how did you install the screen in the navi compartment?

 

Do you have an 03 or an 04?

 

I have a 2003.

 

How do you like your pioneer?

 

I love the Pioneer, if you havan that makes it even easier. All you have to do is remove the center console and unscrew the cubby box from the back side and replace it with the screen. Once you remove the center console you will see what I'm talking about.
