LeeBlue - Check out the driver's side hanger for the rear muffler - it comes within 3-5 mm from a metal panel which braces the\rear guard.
I've noticed that some installations allow the muffler to "wobble" when negotiating big humps, etc.

That looks a lot improved on the ealier versions. The flange on the left is moved up (or is that just the angle of the photo), it all looks neatly tucked away. Is this sort of installation achievable with the standard kit and without too much work Frosty or did you have to get extra mods done beyond the norm?

Default MODS

Apart from shifting the fugly flange which is so visible because
of the much smaller dimensions of the original rear muffler, there's
only minor "fine tune" dimensional adjustments for a better
hang/fit. Plus the proper polish.

Thingo won't be offering the amendments as an option -
making plenty of the silver(frost) paint stuf without the
extra hassles. Shame, though.

Maybe will bend to enough pressure? (not the pipes, stupid - people pressure)

Finish looks alot better.

But if you bought a Japanese exhaust in the first place you would not have these problems. Ahh I had to say it.

Thing is guys the HiTech system was designed as a direct Nissan replacement allowing you to purchace just the muffler or both muffler and Y-pipe, moving the flage makes it not as marketable for HiTech plus they've would have to rejig there tooling. My system was fully polished but after a few weeks it dulls anyway and as for the overseas product I believe the Aussie to be as good if not better in performance IMO and generally the flange is not that visable unless you crouch down, don't forget you have 30 days money back warranty, which you won't get with the overseas product.

Yep fitted myself, you just need to take your time, hang the new system up in place with all the nuts and bolts lose and make sure the hanger rods are bent into place to get good alignment, then tighten up all the flange bolts and nuts. There should be no rattles at any rpm unless some think is touching any body parts (this can happen on the rear muffler on the drivers side on the Track models with thier Aero defector panels).

OK, now that I have the car, I better start looking into this exhaust thing more seriously. I figured that I'd like to have the exhaust fitted in about a month (as my car will have over 1000km on it).

So, Sundog, I'm wodering if this fits in with your plans (ie. getting a couple of them in one go)? If not, then how do I contact Hi-Tech and how much time do they need to build me one (and deliver it)? I'm wodering who to speak to, and how soon do I need to start organizing this (if I'm on my own)?

Thanks guys.

A month (i.e. mid December, 14-15th) is probably what it will take for me to get all the lease red tape out of the way so that fits in fine with my plans. I'm not sure we'll get any better price with just the two of us, based on Richies experiences but we may save a few bucks on the delivery. Do you want to get it installed at the same place as I will in Carrum Downs? The guys fitted Hi-Tech mufflers before and Lambros recommended him.

Middle of December is good for me. Considering that you've already been in touch with Hi-Tech, I'm more than happy to 'leach' of your order :-)

As far as fitting goes, I do need someone to fit it for me, but where is Carrum Down? As long as it's reasonably convenient for me, then I'm happy to go somewhere recommened.

ps. Have you got a quote from Hi-Tech, are are you just refering to prices that other people payed?

The issue is getting the lease extended and that incurs extra stamp duty because the loan amount is increasing. Added to that the natural suspicions of a conservative financial institution when you start talking about 'modifications'.
It's also taken me a while to convince them I'm not converting the car into some rice power, advertising billboard that comes straight from the Fast & Furious.
They tend to regard that sort of thing as an insurance risk funnily enough. It was only when I told the guy I was probably old enough to be his father (or older brother anyway) that he agreed it probably wasn't a bad thing

It's all sorted now and my leasing firm want Lambros to invoice them directly for the standard $1550 + Delivery (@$30). Of course you don't pay GST an a novated lease so that has to be sorted out too.
If you're interested PM me your direct e-mail and I can let you know the details as soon as I know them myself. I have a Hi-Tech recommended installer on tap and DavidM is on board so the more the merrier.

For DavidM's notice, Carrum Downs is south, near Frankston. About 50 minutes on the Nepean Hwy. The price quoted by others is the same as Lambros quoted me.
