RX8 $ v Z $
So the Rx8 is a whopping $10,000 cheaper than the Z!
No wonder the Zs aren't selling!
Think what you could do to a Rx8 with that sort of money!

You should have bought the Touring Frosty if you wanted an extra $10,000 to spend. FYI I would still have bought the Zed even if there was a $20,000 difference.
If you want to talk about other cars and what you could do with the extra money then...
PCOTY 200sx would be a better choice. SR20DET + $20,000 = Very fast.
Or a R100 which weighs in at 825kgs and only costs a few thousand dollars you could make it into a time machine with the left over $60,000. ;)

Not sure of the spec of the RX8, but I think you need to add the leather / luxary pack to get it to a similar spect to a Z. Also, are you comparing the price of the 8 to the Track Z. If so, that's $6K more expensive than the Touring, leaving it only $4k more expensive.
Either way, IMO the 8 is a nice car, just not as good looking as the Z and I hate ringing the neck out of the motor to get the car moving in slow traffic. Much prefer the instant response of torque from the Z.
Also, like the Z, the 8 being NA, $10k wont buy you great HP for your buck. Like Mchapman said, if you want serious bang for your buck, buy a 1yo 200SX, spend $10K on mods and you're still $20K in front and the owner of a sharp looking coupe.

KY350, Thats exactly what I was doing before I did a 180 degree turn at the last minute and bought the Zed.
$35,000 200sx 2002 30,000kms
$10,000 Mods
$45,000 Total
$72,000 for Track Model? - $45,000 = $27,000 Left over.
The APS Stage 2 200sx kit gets you additional ~70kw at the wheels for $5000.

hmmm, I don't think that for $10k you can turn it into a 2 door, seater. Not only that, but you will not make it look like a couple sports-car. Then you'll need Brembos so add another $6k and also you'll need more power to get it to the 350Z perfromance specs. Not much you can do to the motor, but whack on a Turbo, so add another $8k and throw out your warranty.
Though, if you thinking that the RX8 is a good value, then what do you say about the STi? You get 195kW/350Nm and Brembos for $54k. Why not just go for that instead?
ps. Personally I'd take the RX8 over the STi as it is a better balanced car even though it cannot match in in terms of outright perfromance. Also the interior/exterior would be a bonus for me. Though, I see these 2 as 'family cars' ... and as one of those I could not go past one of these two. Then again, how about the new HSV R8s? 285kW/500Nm and Brembos for around $65k. Theres some value for you.

Not sure about 350Z brembo because it's the same as STI Brembo isn't it?

Nope, not the same as STi. Same as GTR R34.
They tend to Fade Quicker than Evo8's brembo.
The 'fade' is often related to the brake-pads, and not the actual disks/calipers. Very few cars on the road are equipped with pads that do not fade when put under extreme stress.
I have a feeling though that the brake booster is not large enough for the Z either.
I don't know whether it is or is not big enough. Also I don't know how good the OE pads are in the 350Z (Track), but I do now know that if you put competion pads in and 5.1 fluid, that you will get 100% perfect braking at the track (or at least Winton). I had no fade, and no brake degradation when I was there. Also my rotors are 100% perfect after the track day ie. no 'scarring', no 'heat spots' and no difference in feel from before the track-day.
Most perfromance oriented cars will do fine on the track even with OE pads if you are new to track-days (ie. not pushing the brakes as hard as you can). On the other hand, if you knw how to brake on the limit to every corner, then there are not many cars whose OE pads will survive that (and not damage your rotors). Maybe Porsches will handle it, but I would still not trust what is in there ffrom the factory. Same with the OE 350Z Brembo brakes - they might do just fine, but I played it safe and replaced them before going to the track.
Same thing goes for STi (or WRX). There are plenty of very fast STi/WRXs on the track that do no suffer from brake-fade. They are the ones who replaced their pads and fluid. Also all the STIs (that I know off) at the track run OE rotors/calipers and have no problems with braking.

We have had absolutley no problems with the stock Brembo's fitted to the Z on our race car. We have rebuilt the front calipers once, not because they needed it but after the 1st 24hr race we pulled everything apart & checked things.
One tip I can give you is that the DBA 4000 rotor runs cooler & is less prone to surface cracking than the stock rotor.

Nisshit sold 1500+ Zed's in the first year, that's 100% more than they exspected, 4th in the PCOTY what more do you want? maybe a Porsche bage on the front instead of Nisshit??? I personally think it's a bargin.
