Default My first track day (pics)

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to share some pics from my first track day at Thunder Hill in Willows CA.
I went out with Hooked On Driving for their last event of the season and it was a blast! I recommend Hooked on driving to anyone in the Northern California area. The people are super cool and the environment is very fun!

Looks like a real good time. I hope to be out there for their next season. How many laps did you get to run?

Good investment!!! Too many ppl think of it as just racing when in reality you'll learn so much in one day at the track. One day it might just save your life or that of a careless pedestrian.
Nice pics too!!!

I went out on the track 5 times throughout the day and each time was 20 min. Im not exactly sure how many laps I did per session but it was plenty!

Wow that's alot of track time. Is that an instructor riding with you, if so did they teach you alot? Did they have classes before or after sessions?

Yup you can choose to have an instructor ride with you and tell you what line to take and what you are doing wrong. Also after each of the sessions we went in to a class room where a pro driver went over the best line for the track and basics of driving on the track.
Out of the 5 sessions that I ran 4 were with an instructor.
Its your choice but it helped me a lot because they told me exactly what I was doing wrong and by the end of the day it felt like I was flying compared to when I first went out!

HookedOnDriving is a good group. I have tracked with them at ThunderHill at least 6 times now.

Glad you had a great time!

Just a warning: Tracking is addictive!

THERE IS NO KNOWN CURE!

Great photos!

My first time out was with HOD. That was a little over a year ago. They're a great group. I've also had great experiences with ClubZ and NCRC.

And, I will second EnthuZ's warning of its addictive and incurable nature. I've never been addicted to drugs, smoking, alcohol, gambling, or hookers, and could never understand why and how someone could ever be. But now I can relate a bit, as my addiction to driving DE's is probably just as potent. That's not to say that this activity falls in the same category of vices though....Given the choice between having sex with several hot women in a day and doing a track day, I'd easily take the track day.

I've cancelled my DirectTV and am about to cancel my cell phone service so that I can have more money to spend on driving, yep...addict. I'm thinking of keeping my kidney though. I only go 8 times a year, but I have the itch to got every three weeks.

Yes tracking is highly addictive. The government is going to start making helmet companies put warning labels on their helmets. That being said, nice pics. It is my goal to make it out to the hill at least once in 2006.

Hmmm...You know, a warning sticker from the Surgeon General would be pretty cool to have on the helmet or on a bumper!

So cool. A helmet and a day at the track is the best 350Z mod.

And you have to love the front inside tire. Is it touching the ground? LOL.

Hahahah yeh a BBK is one of the next things in line for me! By the end of the day my brakes were on fire lol

I am already fending to go back! This is soo bad! I think I know what I will be asking for Christmas..... I wonder if they have gift certificates for the track?!

On the above pic it kinda does look like the inside tire is off the ground huh.. I love watching the VWs go around the autocross course and the back wheel lifting! They get like a foot off the ground!
