the JIC's im on cost 2200 msrp...
the koni's are basically 2000 dollars + race springs figure 300-400 dollars?
on par with coilovers... but just more race oriented?
i thought my coilovers were very 'racey'
...
the driver is getting better
sometimes you have to use technology to make up for lack of skilll
but how u think the parts fair?

That's not a bad amount of preperation. But like they said, the best part you can upgrade is the brain in the driver's seat. I'm sure an experienced driver could get in a stock Z and easily kick my ***.
only way to know for sure how well you'll do is to head out to an event.

i definitely don't think 225/245 is enough tire for the 350.

+1 need at least 265 in the rear but i would go 275
you have stock sways? i have the nismos and they made a noticeable difference.
i would also throw on a 5/16 plenum spacer. its a hell of an addition for the $$
im running
nismo exaust
nismo CAI
nismo sway
nismo LMgt4
nismo GT shift ****
Potenza S03 245/275 18" tires
MD 5/16 spacer
Stop tech slotted rotors
Stop tech SS lines
Axxis ultimate pads (about to switch back to nismo)
striped trunk
and all the pretty cosmetic stuff youve seen over and over in my pics

well you have nismo everything...
so it better make a difference lol
hahahahaha
but your nismo S-Tune suspension is no where near as competition oriented as the JIC FLTA2's...
yeah somesay wit these you dont need sway bar upgrades
but i think a stiffer rear sway would be pretty cool
(for more tire smoking malachy)

Over the winter I've acquired:
- 275/40/14 V710s
- 17x9 rims
- Cusco RS LSD
- Cusco adjustable A-arms
- Nismo hard bushing kit
- Axxis Ultimate pads (better bite than the HPS)
- Engine damper
- Hopefully a tuned UTEC if the budget allows
Should be an interesting year.
If things go well, and my mods are SCCA BSP legal, I will try to make the drive to Topeka a couple of months later.

yeah, the car would need a lot more money into it to make it nationally competitive, but i'm sure a 350z with the common bsp mods could be competitive locally, dending on where you live. hell, i placed in a trophy position at an SEdiv event in a 2001 mbenz slk320.
like i said, i think atleast 20k would be needed to make a bsp nationally competitive and i think chris also said this.
the DA konis i think are a step above any coilover system out there. if i went BSP i'd probably order custom rate eibachs or maybe even give the t2 springs a try.
the thing with adding technology to make up for skill is that you never know where you're losing time if you're just shooting from point A to point B. where's the skill at?
and LSD is also a must for a bsp350z. mine stock LSD is getting replaced under warrenty. it's pretty much junk.
matt's car is actually very well balancd with the stock 350z suspension + nismo sways + 255/275 combination. I stil manage faster times in my car running back to back in his (which is a lot faster) and mine, when both are even on street tires. my fastest time in my car was a second faster than my time in his car.
so yeah. for a bsp350z to be nationally competitve IMO it would need a 300mm+ rear tire, a 285/17 in the front (which nobody makes?) atleast 300whp (which could be done given the allowances in bsp) and a weight of at the mot 3150.. and christoc, the thompsons, BA, pedalfaster or maybe even jason isley behind the wheel!

The LSD is coming any day. I'm looking forward to it as my stock one is pretty much useless.
I'm also looking forward to the arms. Getting more than the OEM -1 camber should really help turn-in.
These mods should knock several more seconds off my previously competitive street tire results.
As a result, I won't be satisifed unless I get a Cdn National title with my Zed in August.

yup. they have dampening and rebound adjustibilites.
also, the way i understood it was that the stiffest rebound setting on the yellows was the softest on the whites.
i already think the yellows do not have enough rebound, so it would be an added benefit. i've heard of much talk about people getting their yellows revalved for that particular reason. and since revalving seems to be about 200/pair... over the $800 for the yellows, the whites are not THAT much more.

ok, so yellows are the SA, and whites are the DA. Thanks for the clarification. yeah, the rebound damping was the biggest thing I noticed with my tokicos. On the settings I have now, there is more body roll than before, but it's so much more controlled. Especially in a slalom/chicane, you don't feel like you're throwing the car around, it just smoothly transitions. The bad side is that in the first turn, the car feels nice and balanced, but when you steer in the opposite direction, one end of the car will start to break loose. That may be because of the body roll and weight transition though. I am waiting for my new springs before I go messing with the shock settings again, but hopefully I can get that worked out.

generally as for shock settings in the dry full stiff up front and full soft out back (or one turn). you want to get the back as soft as possible to eliminate any oversteer.
