its not always exactly that straight foward some mods but you in modified rather than prepared and so on but the letter designates the car class based on HP and other factors
heres a list of cars and their classes for your reference

its fun.
this is only my second year doing it and i think ive really improved from when i first started. thats what its all about just to keep improving. my problem is i tend to overdrive the car(because its so damn fun to do) and i end up having to brake sooner or harder than i need to and it keeps me from having awesome times.

I'm in BSP.
The only thing that really screws you by dropping you from stock class is getting lowering spring. Unfortunately BSP also includes vettes and its almost not even fair. SCCA was considering changing the Z's classification but not going to happen due apparently to displacement and number of seats.

C Ray, I think you are right about SM2 with a BBK. I'm debating a BBK vs OEM Brembo upgrade right now myself. I Can't decide if I want to try to stay BSP or Go BBk for track days. Also where did you get that brake duct kit, I've been looking all over for one.

Yes a BBK will place you in SM2 which the pax will kill the car. But if you enjoy track days more and are not concerned with results of autocross don't let it stop you.
BSP will allow the upgrade of rotors but only to the extent of oem size and must be one peice. Pads, fluid, lines and air ducts are unrestricted.

I got the duct kit from Nick at Ntech. He is "Racin" on this web site. The install is tight and because of mmy shocks I had to cut the tubing off and then reattach later. Nick has a website.

BSP Jose R C4 Corvette- 74.872
BSP Alek J Nissan 350Z- 78.944
Luckily I just race for fun, so it really doesn't matter to me. But since I'm already in that class, I figure I might as well do some other junk to the car, it certainly won't hurt!
