Not legal for BSP, but local regions sometimes allow things that would garner a protest at a Divisional, NT, or the Nats.

Cusco A-arms sitting in my room, probably going to put them on this weekend. (I know they aren't BSP legal but they should change the rule)

blomys14 has good mods though, could use some sways....good pads...better than all these poor guys using ultimates or HPS' thinking theyre performance "track" worthy pads lol. still tryin to figure out what class my car will be in once I throw on Koni sports with Nismo T2 springs and Hotchkis sways with everything else I have listed.

here's what the '08 SCCA rules say:


Q. Limited slip differentials are permitted. This permits locked differentials,
either by design, welding, or mechanical means. Differential
cases, internal differential parts, and axle stubs may be
machined as required for clearance and installation to the extent
that material may only be removed, not added, and the exterior
of the case may not be altered in any way. This machining may
serve no other purpose.

doesn't seem to allow a different final gear

It does not, in fact the ring and pinion must be OE. You can not even use a stock ratio gear that is aftermarket. The only gear change you can do in SP is an update/backdate. A non OE gear set or non OE ratio puts a 350Z in SM2.

thanks for the extra info

I joined SCCA last year and have been reading the Sports Car magazine...it's been fun to see your articles and to even see Beta Motorsports (the Miata build up for ITA) - it's great to have ppl on this forum who know what they're talking about - thanks!!

I'd really like some DS2500's...theyd suit me perfectly I think...they just dont make em for the 06+ standard calipers yet...my only other option is the Endless SSS.

Does anyone have any noise issues with their BSP Zs? I kicked out 98 decibels the other day at an auto-x. This is with test pipes and nismo catback only.

I'm probably louder than you...but I've yet to get a real dB measurement and haven't had anyone bring it up as an issue before.

headers, TP, resonated X-pipe, AAM single muffler...

Having read some of the comments here, I am posting several of the mods that I have that are worthy of review to make sure I am in the correct Class. I am currently in BSP but I may get bumped to SM2 based on some of the previous comments. I wouldn't mind moving to SM2 anyway since I have been contemplating on installing a BBK and the SPL adjustable front camber arms.

You could always go to XP. The rules are pretty simple. You meet the minimum weight easily and that's the most restrictive of all it's rules. There aren't a lot of people moving to this class yet.

b. Minimum Weight Calculations
All listed weights are without driver. All weights are calculated
based on displacement as listed per Appendix A, 10.a. For example:
weight for a 1837cc RWD car is 1200 + (1.837*200) =
1567#
RWD: 1200 lbs + 200 lbs/liter
FWD: 1200 lbs + 150 lbs/liter
AWD: 1200 lbs + 250 lbs/liter
- Cars with engine located behind driver: +20 lbs/liter
- Cars equipped with traction/stability control: +50 lbs/liter
- Cars equipped with active/reactive suspension: +100 lbs
- Cars equipped with ABS: +50 lbs.

The extra chassis bracing (beyond the factory strut tower braces) will move you into SM2, if you're lucky. It will most likely move you into X Prepared or E Modified category depending on how the bracing is designed and installed.

Most regions have a local "run whatchya brung" class. In the San Francisco region its called OSP, in the SoCal region is called CSM. Check with your local region and see what they offer.

Its easy to fool the media... Congratulations on the article. It paints Mazda in a great light. Hopefully the marketing folks at Nissan see it and change their minds about dumping their Motorsports program.

Oh, and you need to get out there and mow your lawn...

I would really like to see both Nissan and Toyota get back in to grass roots racing.... Hurry up and wait.

btw that lawn is in a common area and the HOA has to cut it.
