Default slotted rotors in BS.

just to clarify this, but slotted rotors are ILLEGAL in bs, right?

rules state that they can be replaced, but replacements must be identical and offer no performance benefits.

am i interpreting this correctly? need new rotors because i just failed state inspection!

correct, you'll have to go with an OEM equivelant rotor.

Cryo rotors...?... I might be stepping out on a limb here... but in B-Stock, I'm not sure I'd bother. B-Stock isn't brake intensive (as far as rotors... fade, etc.)... But Cristoc, PDX Racer, Peddlefaster, toms16 and the likes would definitely know. Good grippy pads are nice, but rotors, I'm not sure it's going to gain anything.

If you use the Nismo pads (by far the best I've tried), you'll get the advantage of re-use of the rotors when you use the frozen rotors.

I liked the Hawk pads, but the Nismos are better, and less fade on the track (although I don't have first hand experience with that one). Trouble with the Nismos is that they eat the OE rotors pretty quick. In my experience, I'd say rotors and pads almost need replacement as a set. The frozen rotor can resist ware a bit more, and give you a second or third use.

Do you mean HP+ or HPS? The HPS is not a track-suitable pad. I've heard good things about the HP+, but I've never used it myself.

I found the HPS pads suitable for autox, but you should use the HP+ for fade resistance if you plan to track your car. I think the Nismos will work for either, but as Bee Ess Pee pointed out, they're expensive. I lucked up on a Nissan dealer sponsorship, with Nissan possiblly joining in on the Divsional events. Made mine much more affordable....

yeah.. are they ok for daily street use though? i just didn't want to have change pads exclusively for auto-x. track days i wouldn't mind.. but changing them 2x a month could get old real quick! do you daily drive your car? -jun

I'm sorry if I sound like a Nissan comercial... but

The Nismo's work well for daily driving, and the dust/squeaking is much less than the OE pads. Same for the HPS's, less dust and squeak. Not so for the HPS+ (according to a friends Z). They are Kevlar and Carbon makeup, so the dust and squeak are the price you pay for really good track pads. I can't speak on the GT's, but man, they sound interesting. Anyone have a link so I could research them a little more?

www.cobaltfriction.com

i don't mind cleaning a little bit more dust off my wheels if it means my brakes are working as effeciently and as best as possible! i chose the hp+ for the good reviews, the price, and it's initial cold bite and rotor friendly attitude. i'm sure the nismos do all those things and make less dust, but they cost almsot 2x as much!!
