My First AutoX today
WoW i had too much fun drifting around corners, hitting the breaks, and sharp turns. I AM HOOKED, loved every minute. Tomorow is the comp. today was just practice. hope i do well. I will post PICs and some vids soon has i can.
Glad to hear that you had a good time.
Just remember, drifting (extreme slip angle) around corners is probably about the slowest way around.
Just remember, autocross isn't drifting, and drifting isn't autocross.

not really in slow out fast either.. all about momentum management. don't want to be overbreaking. even though novices don't really have that problem. they tend not to break at all.
and i just realized i spelled brake wrong... and chose not to go back and correct my spelling errors.

Jun, we missed you in Danville this weekend. Dave and I co-drove the Z. We broke a wheel stud changing tires Saturday which got us off to a really bad start. Sunday was better, but we still lost to an RX-8.

Yeah, I was planning on making it but the fact that I had a managerial accounting test and marketing test yesterday (both of which I got A's on.. gooo me) swayed my decision in the best interest of my grades.
what did you run for tires? i was wondering how you got them down there.
yeah, i broke a wheel stud back in april. then broke another wheel stud trying to fix the other wheel stud. great. there is still one broken. but the cars sitting at home in richmond so i guess i will get around to it. you guys should come down for NCAC in greensboro, august 19 and 20th. I know brian hering (didn't know he was a VMSC) is signed up to represent your club. you should get others to come also, like the chenery's and the marx's.
don't feel bad for losing to hertwick. that's only the car buckley drove to a first place finish in ft. myers and 2nd place at DC pro.

I am still running an old set of V700s on stock 17s. Keath & Donna Marx brought them down for me in their trailer. I was surprised how much stuff I got in the Z Roadster's trunk, including my big floor jack & 2 overnight bags.
Thanks for the info on Hertwick's car. It makes me feel a little bit better, but only a little bit better.
Way to go on teh grades. I will look into NCAC, but I could only do it if I found someone to transport my tires again. Is it a really good site? I will spread the word around.

sorry for the thread jack - yeah, it's a large, great site. there is a lot of grip, some elevation changes which make things a little more tricky, but fun. it is probably one of the best sites we have in north carolina. i'm sure if you got others to come, they would be able to transport tires for you.
it's about 3 hours from richmond driving 15 over. about 3.5hrs driving 5over. almost the same time wise as danville!
haywood wagner is designing the course, so it should be challenging.
a preregistration link is on our website, www.auto-x.com on the homepage.
hope you guys can make it, i'll be running in BS for sure on loaner v710s, mike b will be running his 350z in BS (it was amazing to see his car run last year.. so fast), mike whitney will be running a e36 m3 in BS. i am not sure whether or not chuck palmer is coming in his m-coupe. so you'd have atleast 4 competitors! probably more! i see it realistically having 6 or 7.. more competition than anywhere else i've been.
