Gloves
Looking through some of the threads here, I see that a lot of people use nomex racing gloves. That may be more than what I need so I'm looking for advice/opinions.
I just complete two HPDE's in September. One thing that I learned is that I need some kind of glove because my hands sweat so bad that the steering wheels becomes slippery.
I'm not really sure I need to have full gauntlet-style Nomex racing gloves like these...
or if I can get by with "driving gloves" such as these...
I autocross regularly so I want something that I can wear there too as the same sweat/slipage problem comes up but not as bad.
What are people using for autox and HPDEs if not the full gauntlet racing gloves?
Thanks - Dave

MOMO gloves the only way to go! Nothing like that Italian leather feel. The feel of good MOMO's is a good enough reason to buy a Z! They will always bring a big smile when you slip behind the wheel and slide the digits into those Guido Skins.

Nomex gloves are mainly for safety. If there's a fire in the car the gloves keep your hands from being burned as you stop the car, unbuckle, and get out.
IMHO, I would wear them whenever you're on the track. I'm to the point that I wear my full safety gear whenever I'm driving or instructing on a track regardless of the type of event. You never know when you, your student, or someone else on the track is going to do something really stupid.

Yeah, I realized the purpose of the Nomex gloves was to prevent getting burned and I can see wearing them on the track. But I'm doing a lot more autocrossing than HPDEs so I was worried that the nomex glove would be overkill.

I use the Sparco Fast-Tech. It's exactly what you posted you're NOT looking for (nomex, gauntlet style). However, like you, I went shopping for something less expensive, but when I saw these on the rack next to the lower models, I had to at least try them on. I'm glad I did, because the reverse stitching (the seams are on the outside, so there's no extra fabric or stitching on the inside to make these chafe against your hand) made them easily worth the money. They were SO much more comfortable than anything else I tried that the money was suddenly a non-issue.
I hear what you're saying about wanting to keep the cost down and not needing something so dramatic for auto-x, but I think you owe it to yourself to at least check these out.

I've had a couple of the local guys tell me they've bought the G-Force gloves too. Not too expensive either.

+1 on Sparco gloves. i have sweaty palms and the gloves help me grip the leather wheel.
i have gloves similar to these:
mine (grand prix?) were discontinued and sold at the sparco-day sale..
i tried them with alcantara-wrapped steering wheels before. OMG. its awesome. very nice feel..

I'm also in the market for some gloves. The G-Force Pro5 or Pro RS look like a good deals, but I haven't tried on a pair for fitment and feel yet.
Also, buy gloves with leather palms for leather steering wheels, and suede palms for sueded steering wheels. If you mix them, they won't grip nearly as good.

This is a good idea. WR gloves are like glue they are so tacky.
