We started with a Carbonetic but overheated it during Race #1. It didnt feel bad, but it really smelled towards the end. So to play it safe we swapped in a Wavetrac (the spare from teh #51,#52 team) for Race #2. I tend to like the clutch-type diffs better so the Carbonetic was the preferred unit. To be honest though, the NISMO diff is my overall favorite. We've just had some supply issues in getting them from Nissan but I'm hoping to have one for Long Beach.

You guys going to go to an external cooler for the diff? Any thoughts on going to another company....OS Giken or such?

Yup we'll have an external cooler on it for Long Beach. If I could just get a NISMO diff, I'd be a happy man OS Giken is pretty pricey although I haven't tried one so I cant say whether it's worth the cost.

Any tips on how to keep the WaveTrac from failing? I'm running it in the SpecZ series, and heard they weren't so reliable.

Put a cooler on it. Without much experience with them that's about all I got. We really burned the one at St. Pete from heat. Previously I had one that the stub axle worked it's way out of but that was an earlier model and I don't think the newer ones have that issue.

What fluid was that with? I read the WaveTrac guide that says what fluids not to run. I've had good success with Motul PA90 in my NISMO, so I'll probably start there.

Track: Long Beach Grand Prix
Date: April 2012
Best Lap time: 1:32.352
Car: 2009 WC GTS 370Z
Tires : Pirelli PZero 275/645 18 (F), 305/645 18 (R)
Brakes: OEM Nismo - Hawk DTC70 (F), DTC30 (R)
Other Modifications: 3-way Penskes, DXD Race Clutch/Pressure Plate/Flywheel, Cat Removed, Z1 Test Pipes, Custom Exhaust, UpRev Tune, Upper Camber Arms (F), Toe Links (R) and lots of other stuff.

We rebuilt the Carbonetic diff and got the cooler installed so no more diff problems. There are no good brake duct kits that are approved yet so we boiled the fluid on lap 10 and after nearly stuffing it into the tires on the escape road I decided to park it. The Nismo RC Brake ducts will be approved by the next event so we shouldn't have that problem any more...

Track: Mid Ohio Club
Date: 4-15-12
Best Lap time: 1:41.1
Car: 2004 350Z
Tires : Hoosier A6 245/45/17 square
Brakes: OEM with Carbotech XP-12s
Other Modifications: APR Wing, home made front splitter and air dam, lots of Motordyne stuff and Zeal coilovers.

Finally got a video up from this past weekend. We were running the club course at Mid Ohio. I beat the previous TTB record, but the same session my top competitor also beat it by more. My fastest time for the weekend was in this video. 1:41.1 and the guy in the Nissan 240 two cars in front of me ran a 1:40.6. Last years TTB record was held by him and it was a 1:41.4.

I had a passenger with me the session before this one and I didn't have any time to take my seat out. You will see it flop around...lol I'm surprised I didn't get black flagged or anything.

I like this new camera view because I can see my steering, shifting, feet, windshield and how much I look around in the rear view mirror.

I think I am having some under steer issues. I cannot tell if I am under steering or just coming in too hot on some corners. I would love for some advice. I think I have a lot of suspension tuning to do. The fast corners the car seems planted. The front and rear aero is helping a lot there.

I had similar issues with that before. My old laptop had XP on it and it would not recognize the MP4 format. I had to download a converter which did take forever to convert. Once it was converted, I used windows movie maker to edit it then re-saved it again and then was able to upload.

probably has to do with the overall size and resolution of the video. Is it in RAW format with no compression?

I would try the WMV or MPG route with some compression.

NJMP Lightning circuit... lap time not worth mentioning. But think the video is pretty cool... the ferrari spins at 13:11 if you look closely you can see his headlight momentarily
