Here are the NASA TT track records for Road Atlanta
(prior to this past weekends event)

Note: 350Z run in TTC or TTB depending on mods

Remember, these guys are "Smoking Fast", and not your regular HPDE drivers. And most of these cars are gutted "track only race cars" running as light as the rules allow.

IMHO: Sub 1:40s is out of the question in a NA 350Z (see GTR lap of 1:39 posted below)

1:41-1:43s would be out of reach for the common man in a NA 350Z with full interior/weight, but guys like MPowers can do that in a TTB/PTB race car.

1:45 is pretty quick in a street car,

1:46 - 1:50 is fair in a street car

over 1:50 are HPDE kinda times in any car.

Road Atlanta
Class Name Vehicle Time Date
TTR Reese *** C6 Corvette Z06 1:25.75 8/10/08
TTU Reese *** C6 Corvette Z06 1:27.12 3/16/08
TTS Jared McGillicudy C5 Corvette Z06 1:33.23 8/10/08
TTA Tim Marcinek 95 Z28 1:38.83 8/10/08
TTB Dennis Malevanyi BMW E46 1:38.23 8/10/08
TTC Rene Badia S2000 1:41.41 8/10/08

TTD Nabil Abusharr Mazda RX8 1:46.11 8/11/07
TTE Micheal Blanchard Mazda Miata 1:46.03 8/10/08
TTF Rob Bouknight BMW E30 325is 1:48.79 3/18/07
TTG Michael Keena-Levin Honda CRX HF 2:13.38 8/11/07

With a race prepped 350Z, and a good guy pushing the pedals and turning the wheel, a 1.40 flat is possible. Jose Escobar (our good buddy) did this last weekend at Road Atlanta in the 350Z we prepped for him. Makes 260whp at the wheel last time on the dyno. I am so proud of him....he was lapping 1 second faster than the pro drivers in the Koni Challenge RX8's!!!

I bet someout out there has put in a 1.39 with an NA Z...anyone?

Jose ran a 1:41.5...on the Pole and Smoking Fast!

BTW: I ran a 1:45 and got 3rd in TTB. And I think a 1:43 is realistic for me in my DD/full interior/stock drive train/Grand Touring 350Z running RA1s. I know I can do it with some soft compound Hankooks/Hoosers

You are very fast with the RA1's, and full interior!!! wow! In qualy, Jose had the 1:41, and did a 1:40during the race. Jose is very humble and will probably never admit it.

Everything that could be removed, was removed or cut out. Weight without driver is roughly 3000lbs.

Billy Johnson turned a 1:48.471 at Buttonwillow #13 in the M-Workz 350Z. That is on USED UP hankook c91's with about 550 whp. That makes it the 8th fastest time attack car at this track behind the HKS Evo and other sick cars. I don't know of any other Z that has gone faster than 1:55 at Buttonwillow.

Next year we will get even faster.

We will in March of 2009 with a stock engine na Z ie no cams, intake, headers, etc, best a 1:39 -my best right now is 1:41.8 during a race back in august on old hoosiers, but we have secrets....

Btw very nice job on Jose's Z.

Agreed! Jose is "violently" fast!!! I can't wait to see him after he gets a little more experience/confidence! He will giving Mr Powers a run for his $$$

However, I will have to say that when I tried to run with him...he left me in the dust on the back straight like a Z06 So that motor is pretty dayum strong

I need to add one more VERY IMPORTANT thing required for me to run a 1:43 @ RA:

*****

My gonads still shrink-up like jumping into cold water going over the hill to T12!

You too should team up and do an enduro or something. You guys both drive extremely well....I'd love to see that battle.

Jose said you helped him out at the track...so I wanted to say thank you as well. Him and I have a lot of respect for your skillz.

Geez, I won't be able to get my head out of the forum door now , but seriously our team is ready to always help anyone out at the track and thanks for the compliment!

We tried to have Jose run with us back in August in the NASA enduro's but it was a rather last minute phone call due to John not being able to make it out. With a new season coming up it would be great to figure out a way to intertwine both teams.

I’ll call Jose in the up coming weeks..

thanks Marty...

it was an ok time for only being on that track 3 sessions, but for an SPO car that is pretty slow. SPO's typically run 15's +/-

wish it wasn't so far away, that track definately has the pucker factor but man is it a lot of fun to drive around.
