Default Help with setup.

First of all I hope to meet a few 350z owners in the near future, as me (the co-driver) and the owner of the car that I am driving will start to attend more national events starting next year. We are both 350z owners but mine is a little limited (5at). We want to prep the car for BS and yes that is going to be a very tough class to compete in. Just being able to run with some of the top BS drivers will be awesome in itself. Although I am all for the move to FS is that ever gets proposed

We will be driving a Brickyard 03 Enthusiast. So far he has taken the muffler off for events, kn air filter, and 275 kumho's on the stock 17's. Right now I am trying to gather info on what has worked and what hasn't. Right now shock/struts and a front sway is going to be on the list next followed by wheels.

The cobb sway bar has caught my attention but I see that most are running the hotchkis.

I also see that most are on the koni's, while that is proven, i'm sure we will go the koni route. But we are still open to others.

I'm sure alignment we will have to play with, to suit our driving style. But I am also open to alignment specs. So far the only ones I have found are pretty close to stock specs...The car will be a street car and will drive to events but other then that it will not drive very much, so that will open a little more aggressive alignment...

I'm sure I am missing a lot. I am also open to good/bad comments, anything that will help

Oh and we will be at the tri-state event for Arkansas/Tennessee/Mississippi...

Now I will continue my searches on this forum and others

My settings (which placed 10th in Topeka last year, and was basically what was used this weekend):

* Hotchkis 34mm hollow FSB, set to full soft
* Koni double-adjustable shocks set equivalent to 2.5 turns from full soft front, 1.5 turns from full soft rear (we were up to the equivalent of 1.75 turns in the rear which made the car a bit more "nervous" in the rear, but keeping co-driver happy was important). The DA shocks are good when I have to set up for rain, otherwise the single-adjustable are OK.
* Stock alignment ('05 suspension, '03 should be very similar but will eat your street tires a bit more)
* Stock exhaust -- the weight of the muffler/resonator is in absolutely the ideal location (low and at the rear where the car is already a bit "light")
* 3/8 tank of fuel (between 5/16 and 7/16 is OK, 3/8 is ideal on my car)
* For tires, you'll probably be looking at 275/40R17 DOT-R tires (Kumho V710s for longer wear or Hoosier A6s for a *very* limited number of runs per set)
* Wheels - Enkei RPF1 in 17x8.

Stock - front Sway, intake filter element (OE style), cat-back exhaust and shocks are open...that's about it.

whats your record at national tour/Pro-Solo this year first350?

Hotchkis/Cobb sways are virtually identical...one is red one is blue. If youve got big money and you guys are really **** about how the car handles you can always get Moton double/triple adjustables. I dunno if triple adjustables with the seperate slow/high speed compression is really necessary for autox applications though.

Triples are not legal in stock class. You are only up to two adjustments (doubles).

Thanks for all the input so far. The hotchkis/cobb sway bar are identical on other cars too...thanks for reminding me about that

Did I mention I'm a former rx8 owner LOL....

1 for 1 so far...NT ProSolo is this coming weekend - hoping for a repeat, but it's doubtful. BSP only has 2 entries...so I'll be lumped into a HUGE B2 class (bump 2: SP, XP, SM, STX....) - there will be more trophy spots, but Hoosier still only pays out free tires for 1st/2nd...

Packwood is large enough to run the side-by-side style ProSolo, but that means the courses are on the order of 30s - R/T's will be a larger factor...I better start practicing my launches!

I didn't get them yet...I've got to fill out all of the forms. IIRC, when you intiaily register (which you have to do before the event), you tell them the sizes you're running...so I assume they'll supply the size you tell them you're running - 315/30/18's are $$ - I'm hoping to somehow pull off a win this next weekend and end up with an entire set!

And the reason that I'm running double-adjustable is more for "non-optimal grip" events (e.g. wet).

I also spent several years tuning car setups before I started autocrossing (something that most people don't know about).
