The Tire DB - Posts about Track and AutoX tire brands
You will find that turning the car is a bit more tougher than before. And every time you turn in too early, you will pay for it on the burms. The 275's are more tire and you end up binding the car just a hair more, plus you are going to be a hair slower. With a wider tire, you are carrying a bit more weight and scrubbing off more speed when you turn. They do take some getting used to.
As far as weight goes my new setup should be only a lb or two heavier than my current setup. Plus going down to 17's from 18's should bring the rotational mass closer to the center.
i usually autox the Z since the miata is such a pain in the a$$ to drive just for autox reasons. Spec miata suspension + harness + back half cage. just make the car way to stiff for freeway driving early in the morning. Its worth it if i am going to the track however!!!!
but knowing that mather is only 45 mins away, i might bring the miata. but i know mather is more of a v8 course with tight turns and LONG straights so the Z might be more fun. If you see either of these its me.

Just a question, how are you running non-stock sized wheels in BS?
Here's a little trick some of our local autocrossers have been using this week. Tirerack is sold out but the Bridgestone warehouses are not. We know somebody who works in the parts department of a local Nissan dealership. A call to him gets an order placed directly to Bridgestone's warehouse with free shipment to the dealer. They're offering the same closeout prices that Tirerack has.

I live in guam usa.. for you that does not know where it is..
Guam is located near Marianas Trench..
The sport here as well is autocross..
Weather wise: hot.. no snow.. rains...
Looking for tires that are: for autocross and DD even on wet roads..
Any suggestions?
thanks..

BFG KDW2's are one of the hardcore performing tires. But they are pretty loud too, so I don't know if you can tolerate their noise as a DD. Some can some can't..
Or just try the Dunlop Star Specs. People say they are very good tires..

There's a compromise involved with any choice you make. If it's primary a street tire, there are any number of max performance summer tires available. Personally, I liked the dry/wet performance of the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 on my Z. However, for a different dimension of autocross performance, tires like the Hoosier A6, Kumho 710 or BFG R1 are R-compound tires that work well in hot, dry conditions.
Looking at your signature it seems you don't have any suspension mods, so R-comps or slicks would be a bad idea.
I would stick with Falken RT615's - dirt cheap and sticky enough for autocross. Although when worn they can be pretty scary in the rain (and lose stickiness in the dry as well)
