Default Lapping with Chin @ Sebring Video

Got some testing in this weekend at Sebring with Chin Motorsports. It was the first time at the track with the aero and LSD so took a little time to get my references right but the car was unreal. I was consistently in the 2:28-29s, and put down a best lap of 2:28.1. This is was during the last lap of the video below, and I missed a downshift in T17! Trackmate had my TBL as 2:27.4 so there is definitely more to get out of it. I was using Nitto NT01s this weekend, so hopefully with good track conditions and fresh Hoosiers, I could manage a high 2:25 or low 2:26. T2 350Zs are in this range so I am definitely improving! I should have nice pictures coming from the photographer so look for those!

No idea but he got in my mirrors quick and caught me off guard and made me mess up T16. Looked like Ford GT body but the wheels were tucked in the fenders pretty good so it must of been some kind of Legends type car with a GT body. Only saw him once on the track all day.

I was running it at 7 degrees this weekend, not sure if I should bother taking a degree or two out since its not costing me much in drag. Turn 1 is bonkers with the grip!

Do you run their front splitter also? If so, thoughts? If not, why?

Yea I do, no complaints. The car is very neutral and stable. Very high quality, 100 times better than the APR stuff. Very simple to install/remove, takes 3 minutes once you get it down. I am hoping I can load it in my new enclosed trailer without having to remove it. Here is a pic of the front:

Thanks for the info. So you can quickly and easily remove the front splitter - do you leave the chord on the rear at all times? I ask because I keep the car covered (with an OEM cover) when it's not in use. Is that a gap between the splitter and your bumper?

I have some sort of Aerosync front bumper, which I think is a NISMO knockoff. It doesn't look like it'll fit, and I don't have the original bumper. Bah! Do you agree?

Nice video! That thing that past you at 4:40 was ridiculous. I would love to try Sebring someday. How many times are you running there this year with NASA? What are some TTA/PTA times for Sebring? I just did Mid Ohio this weekend in TTB. I'll post a thread about it this week sometime.

NASA Florida runs there twice a year (June and October), not enough if you ask me, buts its more pricey to rent than HMS and PBIR. I go another 5 or 6 times a year with other clubs as an instructor for some track time. TTA is active and those guys are in the 2:25-2:26s. The current record is a 2:24.9 set by a 06 Porsche C2S on A6s. I think I will be in the that range on R6s in qualifying conditions. If I still ran Time Trials, I could probably break that record on A6s though its just as likely to fall by that same car. Track records during races are difficult to break since finishing the entire race is more important than trying new lines to shave a few tenths at the risk of putting the car off and losing.

Ill look for your Mid-Ohio post, I really would love to get up there and rent a car for a weekend to see the track first hand before Nationals but I dont think I will have the budget. I guess I could just arrive a day early and do the Tuesday test and tune before the Wednesday test and tune during Nationals week. We'll see...

Scott,
There is a little gap on the front part. I think my front bumper is a little deformed from track abuse, plus the air dam isnt a perfect fit but it does the job. Give them a call, show them what you have, maybe they could retrofit it for you. The air dam and splitter are pretty affordable, as is the rear wing.
