Sorry to hear about your engine. Looked around the paddocks yesterday and today but could not find you or your car. Hope you get things sorted out.

same thing happened in my HR. Not even a week after I bought it I let my "friend" drive it and he went from 3rd to 2nd @ about 75-80ish. Amazingly nothing happened and I never had any issues after that.

It is pretty easy to Money-Shift a 350Z......as the shifter is kinda sloppy. I have missed the 5-6 shift numerous times...so I now grip the shifter "up-side-down", with my thumb somewhat pointing down and towards the driver's seat, with the palm touching the Driver side of the shift ****. It is kinda like a pushing the shifter towards the Passenger seat movement. That has cured that problem...I practice on the street and it is now just part of my normal shifting technique.

Note: Having a full containment seat that limits your arm movement..so that makes this problem even worse!

Sorry to hear man, I know i've done a 8500-9000k mis-shift 3 to 2 looking for 4th but a built motor running on a low rev limiter saved me.

Good luck on finding a replacement.

starting my Copart searches and bidding...good place to purchase entire car and get what you want, sell the rest...

I have found Copart to be just about the same price as just buying a engine...and in many cases you can hear the engine run.

Tube headers into 4" pipe with a small straight thru muffler...

I wear ear plugs when racing...otherwise it is ear splitting.

That would explain my not finding you--I got there a little after 2 PM Friday. Even had Julie check the registered list as cars/drivers were not showing up as running and qualifying times were not correct! She had you registered but you had left by that time. Well, we'll meet up at some point--maybe SCCA at Road Atl in mid July. If I can be of help, let me know.

lol mine are long tube headers into straight exhaust = ownage...I have to drive around with silencers on the muff's cuz its too loud

Laze, How bad is the short block? Did a rod poke a hole?

It's in the Northeast, but yes I have a couple VQ35DEs ready to go, rebuilt and 0 miles. We had 3 in normal rotation in the DE race car but have now moved to the HR so they're just sitting in the shop.

it didnt seem as if the clutch was fully disengaged when he downshifted from 5th to 2nd.

No hole in the Block or leaking any oil, but it will not turn over...#2 Cylinder Vales have broken off into the Piston area...spark plug smashed, oil and metal particals in the intake manifold...i.e., Blowed Up

Could be, but definitively went 5th-to-2nd at ~ 75 MPH...entering T3 @ Road Atlanta
