We have used Red Line Oil in our race cars for 14 years and have never had any kind of engine, transmission, power steering unit or differential problem. We ran across Red Line when my son was racing in a 12 hour race driving someone elses rotary Mazda and the main oil cooler line wore through and all the oil drained out. He wasn't driving. When the car came in for a drivers change I checked the dipstick and nothing on it. I put in a quart of Red Line and still nothing. Did that two more times and finally got some on the stick but decided to see where the old oil went. Most of it was on the car that had been following our car on the track and that car also was pitting just behind us and also just came in. It was covered with oil. So the crew found a Mazda on a trailer in the paddock and borrowed the main oil line and we were back on track in not much time at all. Since that race we have used and been sponsored by Red Line Oil. One side effect is that it will also lower your temperatures as well as lubricate. It's worth the small extra money it costs.

tell yourself whatever you want about the oil if it makes you feel better...
redline has been known to reduce some of the transmission noise and smooth shifts and they also make a very good diff oil.
As far as the engine oil goes this really won't out-perform anything else that has known to do well in the vq engines. There is a HUGE thread on vq oil analysis.

read it.
choose your oil based on that, not on what a website says an oil is good for.
If you want the best race oil (hear most expensive), buy brad penn. Nascar, indy, and daytona cars all run this because penn has a good marketing team.
this seemed like a very noobest question which you clearly aren't based on your join date. what gives?

Anyway, maybe you could explain Redline's statement "To reduce the chance of detonation, our race oils contain low detergent amounts and are not recommended for street use."
Thanks

well from my understanding detergents cause something they call "ash" during combustion which after a period of time can leave deposites inside the combustion chamber.
In a high compression engines these deposites can lead to detonation. I don't consider a stock Z "high compression". Everything in a stock vq is made for the daily driver.
Redline also say that because there are no detergents in their oils that they are recommended to be used for 3-4 track events only.
Like kacz07 said, eneos, m1 are both solid choices. I wouldn't over analyse the oil situation, just stick with what is proven.

I also use Redline in my car. I have it in the engine, power steering, tranny and rear diff. I have had no issues. It is a bit pricey though, but worth it for us track junkies. I also change my engine oil every 2-3 events and my tranny and rear diff once a season...about 5-7 weekends.

I use the "cheapo" Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic in my track car. I change the oil every 500 miles or every 2 events though. The M1 isn't the best, but it's nearly the cheapest Full Syn you can buy, and it extends the use temp of the oil for those hot days. I knew my oil was getting hot when I toasted the rear main seal last year.

Redline fluids all around...I run 3 & 8 hour Enduros, sprint races, and the car is shared with my car co-owner/co-driver and is on track all weekend...(NASA South East---gets dayum hot down south)
never had a problem related to fluids (also run large oil cooler, no diff cooler)
