New NASA Class for 2012: Spec Z
just too Laze to remove them..
Seriously, I would think the car would be way too low without them...maybe not??? There is a pretty good amount of adjustment in the adjuster screw

Hmm. Well, I felt it was too high with the helpers and the suspension all the way lowered, so I tossed them and now I'm able to make height adjustments in a good range (me thinks).
Makes sense and I like the idea. I think that the helpers make this kit too tall when they are installed, even when adjusted all the way low. I should have noted the rear ride height before I removed them, but don't think I did. . .
Are they Helper or Tender springs? Fully collapsed with weight on them? Or act as a softer spring for the initial suspension movement?
IIRC, they are helpers (the soft spring that fully compresses under the static weight of the car).
Scotts300, did you notice more noise in the setup after removing them? One of the main reasons for spec'ing the helper is to take up space when the dampener is fully extended.

I did some lookin' at my car this weekend, and think I to will be removing the mini-springs from the rear...Appears to be plenty of adjustments on the threaded spring seat/adjuster to make up for the loss of the mini's...
Note: I am also going as low in the front as possible to get some Mo' camber...and hopefully traction for the front...still have too much push in the front...and plenty of grip in the rear.

That's what I was getting at of course. I think I'm at full soft in the rear now in order to help plant the power with the new type of diff. Soften 'er up, and let us know how it goes. I'm debuting my other z this weekend, which has about a degree less front camber than the previous SpecZ I was racing, so I expect the same types of pushing problems.
Some more "SpecZ" video from this weekend at Thunderhill. I still can't seem to figure out how to make the TrackAddict HD program record an entire session, so you only get a few laps of it:

This was, however, my first time out with the "new" GoGreen SpecZ. I noticed some obvious differences from my previous car which had the rev-up motor. I'm in 5th gear a lot more, and there were at least four extra shifts that I did not have to previously perform. Whether my driving and confidence, weather, open track, or other, I did manage to run my best lap yesterday (2:02.x) compared to all 6 SpecZ race days I've done (4 in the silver Z, two in the greenZ). I still think there are about 3s more to go if I want to compete with the real racers once they finish their Spec cars.
GoPro vid to come.

Been doing some research on the SpecZ and I really think I want to head in that direction! Now that my Z is officially going to be my track car.
I have been doing auto-x quite often over the last 1.5 years, with some road coarse's thrown in. I'm not going to be competitive any time soon but I want to start looking at 2013 and getting the car moved more in that direction.
you guys have posted a lot of really good info on here.
I am looking at getting some Enki RPF1's and a new clutch & flywheel soon since mine is on its last legs.
Hope to see you guys out there some time, I will be trying to make more trips out to VIR next year!

Feel free to ask me questions...Laze1@comcast.net
Note: I am the Spec Z Race Director for NASA-SE...I don't think you guys in Mid-A have a Director yet...

Look for the black Zs. In process of building for 2013 season. Come by and say hi!
I was talking to a guy who has an '03 track that wants to get out and race as-is since he can't afford the full setup but is itching to race. Even though he won't be competetive against my full spec build, and he is aware of that, would it be legal? He has the brembos because they came with the track, and he already has some 9/10 staggered wheels, so really all he would need is a cage,seat,harness,etc.. and tires. Does anyone see any issues? Should be just as legal as anything fully built, right?
