Default DE Oil pressure drops in long right handers

Hey everyone. I was back and one of my home tracks last weekend, Carolina Motorsports Park. Anyways this was the first time back with the new JDM engine. Car ran great however in two of the long right hand corners 5-7 aka the Carousell and 12-13 at the top of third gear I could see the oil pressure go form 70psi down to 40psi. If I short shifted there was no issue. Oil level is right at the full mark. The car did lose and engine there when I was running back in May. I thought I had seen some of those drops at that event. The oil pressure has been rock solid at VIR, Barber, and Watkins Glen. But CMP has longer right handers. I was thinking of doing a Z1 oil pan spacer. But are you guys over filling these cars on track?

I would see what @dkmura is running to handle this issue. I know sustained Gs while cornering can cause oil starvation issues at the pickup. I would go with a large capacity pan, preferably one that is baffled and an external oil cooler.
Cheers!

Yeah the car had a cooler on the old engine but it ate a bearing and the cooler needs to be replaced. It looks like dkmura is running an HR not a DE. No real baffle options for the DE. Thinking I may try a spacer and overfill a little bit.

They exist, some seem better choices than others. Here's an example (LINK). If you have a non-revup DE, here's another option from Mazworx (LINK). There's also a Greddy Option (LINK), but it's not clear if a spacer is included for the oil pickup tube, seems like no hardware is included. I've never tried any of these, just showing what's out there.
Good Luck!

Looks like Z1 just came out with one: https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-pro...n-p-57733.html

Yeah just saw that. Figure instead of buying their spacer I am just going to buy the whole pan. Hopefully it solves these issues.

The Z1 Pan looks like the best option to me. All the needed hardware included, some nice features with the design (oil drain channel, threaded bolt hole for future removal), and the price is fair. My only concern is the overall dimensions/size. It does look like it sits pretty low, even lower than the front sway bar and brace. My Zspeed aluminum undertray may not clear it. Need to get the detailed dimensions and do some clearance checks before purchasing.
Cheers!

Yeah I was going to call and ask if it clears the metal undertrays. I have an ebay one on my car. But I want protection while on track. Plus it helps support my broken front bumper.

I added some small spacers to my undertray to give it a little more room using the OEM pan and an oil pan spacer (AAM?). I only had to add a little room to the back two screws (furthest form the front of the car). Not sure how my setup measures up against the Z1.. but has to be pretty similar.

I reached out to Z1 asking about clarity on the dimensions ( Z height specifically). I got a response fast, but being a weekend, I won’t have details until the product engineering team is back in office on Monday (or Tues if they observe Vets Day). The responder confirmed they have not tested with the Zspeed undershroud/undertray, which makes me think they probably clearance tested with their Z1 version. These aftermarket aluminum trays all follow the same dimensions for the most part, but having the exact height dimension will give peace of mind.

I’ve also been looking into a higher capacity sump for a while. I have a RevUp after all, and although it’s not a burner yet (less than 60k mi), I would like that added peace of mind. Also, the oil I purchase comes in 6qt cases, so that’s nice!

Cheers!

Late to the party, but yes, I currently run an HR in SCCA racing. If I were running a DE, I'd look closely at a baffled oil pan and an accusump to address the loss of oil pressure in long RH turns. Reminds me that Road Atlanta's T1 is similar and pulls enough Gs that I had a brief loss of fuel pressure going up that hill last weekend. It happened towards the end of the ARRC race when my fuel load was low and cost me several positions in the race.

Update:

Z1 responded this morning. Looks like they’re holding the dimensions close to their chest. But did confirm their large capacity pan kit clears their version of the aluminum under tray. Not proof positive for me, but something to go off of.
Cheers!
