Default Brakeman Brakes in action

here is a story about how well those brakes work

http://www.diald.com/index.htm?Featu....htm~mainFrame

Video of the race.
http://www.theexperience.com/videos...x-hairy-512.wmv

In round one John Shepard and Andrew Rubio showed everyone what separates the professional drivers from amateurs in Sunday’s round one eliminations. Rubio’s, 8 second 350Z took a sudden and violent left turn from the right lane hooking directly in the path of John’s AWD Talon, Shepard miraculously reacted instantly to get on the brakes big time to allow Andrew to slide in front of him in his lane. Rubio had the car sideways off both walls and skillfully avoided both. Remarkable talent displayed by Shepard and Rubio, when the run was completed both cars were untouched and both drivers were in better condition than their crews watching on the starting line.

lets just say if you can go 140+ and stand on your brakes like that, and they hold up as well as they did thats gotta stand for something. the talon guys are going nuts over this, actually the sales of the big brakes for the talon jumped up since this happened. i can't imagin these brakes on a Z but i guess we shall see soon.

these brakes are getting close to being released i will post more details on the stats of these brakes as it gets closer to release.

there are some details here if anyone is intrested

Yay?

You're maximum braking from only one stop is largely limited to the initial bite of the pads and the traction of your tires. You won't build up that much heat from only one stop.

While I don't have stock pads, with Brembos I can mash the brakes at 135 lap after lap with very very little fade.

If you really want to go aftermarket, stick with something that's proven to stand up to sustained temperatures of over 1000 degrees (ie Stoptech).

i still need to get the brake dyno results of these brakes compaired to the pro version of the brembo's with the same pads and rotors the calipers would brake harder and stay cooler. again i need to get the brake dyno on those so i can post them.

i know that a instant stop isn't really a true test of how brakes work, but those brakes have something to do with it.

as for a pricing estimate i was given a few prices.

retail these are going to go for about $3356.00 for the fronts which is about 760 bucks more then the stop tech fronts but these are a different kind of brake. also these brakes come in a convoluted option for those intrested in a show car. it's a "daisy" shaped brake.

the rears retail for 1794.00

putting the total retail cost at $5150.00 but i guess in till these brakes prove themselfs on the track i'm going to have a hard time convincing people that they are good.

i can get you all 4 brakes for $3300.00 which would be like getting the front at retail cost and getting the rears for free.

if you are intrested in just the fronts i can get them for 2154.00

BTW i'm not a dealer, or a vender i'm just a customer like you so i'm as much as a skeptic as you are. i don't get commision for helping with the sale of these i just think its a great deal and i wanted to share it with fellow Z owners.

Brakeman is a good company.

One issue they have is that they use a huge piston design that does not always mate well with the stock master cylinder (which may not push enough fluid).

They products are really more dedicated for race. Unless you are putting togeter a full race car, I would stick with Stoptech or stock Brembros.

For drag racing -- stock non-brembros would be fine because (as stated above) braking distance is entirely dependant upon weight and tire grip. Not until you have to do repeated hard braking (like on a road race track) do you see the benefits of a system like Stoptech, Brakeman, Brembro or Wilwood. The resistance to fade is what you improve the brakes for -- not to reduce stoping distance.

All that said -- that drag car would have probably had very similar results using stock Brembros (or even non-Brembros).

well there is going to be 2 version of the brakes. but thats true their brakes are mostly for race uses. but they are also going to make a street version with the convocasted rotors (which is why i contacted them in the first place)

those convocasted rotors would be very nice looking on any show car since no other brake company has rotors like these.

this is just a different kind of brake then a brembo or stoptech or wilwood or really any other brake out there.

to each their own i guess. some people might find the rotor shape pretty cool. some might not, i like things that look different, other wise i would have just gone with a stoptech, or AP.

just the same reason i didn't get Volk's to many people had them, and there where more options then TE37's or SF-challenges.

not that i didn't get rays wheels just not volks, or nismo.

but again atleast you have the option of getting these brakes in just a normal round shape or the convocast. options are good.
