Big Brake with Slicks....
OK, the APS TT is almost installed and the next investment will be more powerfull breaks.
Since I am running Slicks using Weld Prostars and I know that Brembos don't fit on those I'm wondering what would be a good break setup for me

I'm guessing this is a drag setup. I would at least beef up the rears with some more sturdy rotors/pads/lines (StopTech). As for the fronts maybe a beefier caliper and all the goddies that go with it. Hmmm I can't really justify upgrading the brakes much for a drag setup... Don't you have plenty of time to stop? And it's like, you run then wait in line, run again etc etc so the brakes won't be overheating like you would expect on a road course.

I don't know crap about breaks, so excuse my ignorance on this.
Yes, it's mainly for drag racing but also for safer handling on the streets.
I was told that you are not supposed to mix and match breaks, which is one of the main reasons why I want to get with a set.
Drag strip run outs give you some room but you do need to break fairly hard, especially after a good run.
I read that with the additional power of the Turbo it is wise to upgrade the breaks

FOr drag racing, I would not worry about this at all.
The stock brakes (non-brembo) are more than adequate for stopping the Z in a relativel short distance. They do not, however, have the cooling capacity for repeated runs. The Brembos are much better in this respect, and an aftermarket kit is more likely to be even better.
If you are just thinking about being able to stop the car better, get some nicer pads, a upgraded set of rotors and you will be all set for drag racing/street runs.
If you planned to autocross the car or track it, I would support the BBK upgrade, but quite simply for your interest, you don't need it.

It can be done.....unfortunately these wheels are discontinued. But id try to find a used set like I did. Then you can do Brembo's if you want or do a BBK in front and even one in the rear, as long as you do the 12.8" kit in the rear it will work.

I agree with JimRhit...you should be fine on the drag strip.
If you want to start doing repeated stops from high speeds (like on a road course), then you have to start thinking about a BBK. Spend some time on our tech page. If you remember 1/5 of this info, you'll know more about brakes than most people!
Start with the "brake systems and upgrade selections" article. It's a great primer on brakes.

thank you, will do some reading
Since I got the TT kit my front tires are covered with brake dust and especially on very good runs it seems like the brakes are a bit overworked...
Bringing 450 horses to a stop after an 11 second run seems to be pushing it...maybe I'm just imagining it but at a minimum I am pushing it
