Feed back on EBC brake pads (Green-stuff & Red-stuff)
Wsup fellaz. I own a '03 Track. I need to get new rotors and pads. I set my mind on getting Brembo slotted rotors. I can't decide on brake pads. Please give me some feed back one EBC 'Green-stuff' & 'Red-stuff' brake pads.
Or...should I invest a bit more money and try to get hawk or porterfield??
Brake whistling while cruising is the last thing I want!
I gotto purchase those parts this week so PLEASE help a brotha out!!
Thanks

The RedStuff worked well for me on the track, and were very quiet when heated up to temp. I have had a horrible time with Porterfield's R4 compound, and can't reccomend that. The Hawk pads, I'm assuming you're looking at the HPS or HP+, aren't very good for the track, and would recommend the RedStuff over them. Keep in mind that the RedStuff is not a track pad, but does well for several laps more with better results than the Hawk pads, albeit with much greater wear. If you just want a street pad, don't bother with RedStuff or Porterfield and check out the Hawks or Cobalt Friction.

I've used EBC Redstuff pads on my ITA 200SX Se-R and cannot recommend them for any serious use. After bedding in a set properly, the Redstuff pads were SMOKED after a SCCA driver's school/Regional race weekend. By that, I mean they were worn to the backing plates and that's with a car weighing hundreds of pounds less, with half the HP/TQ to boot. They were so soft that there wasn't much squeal in engaging the brakes, so maybe that's one redeeming quality.
Now, if you're purchasing these pads for street or cruising use, they'll probably be OK. Just watch the wear rates and be prepared to clean your wheels a lot. As for Greenstuff pads, I've never run them, but if the Redstuff wear this quickly, it's hard to imagine that Greenstuff will hold up very well at all.

I just (Last Weekend) put on GreenStuff pads, and am slightly disappointed. They lack some of the intial bite of the stock pad and appear to give off a comparable amount of dust. I may rid myself of them early and replace with Hawk's or Project Mus
EBC recommends the redstuff for slight track use up to 900degrees C I believe, but I would heed what was said prior to my post and stay away!
Good luck, and let us know what you put on and what you think!

Thanks for all the feed backs Z ppls!! I was planning on ordering Red-stuff this weekend with brembo slotted rotors.
Anyone got a manual on how to install rotors and pads myself?? It's my first time changing rotors and pads on 350z. Any cautions i should look for??
I guess ya'll pretty much recommending NOT to purchase red-stuff eh...

Thank you!!!!!!

Here is what I am running I have a 2003 track! I have EBC Rotors all around with EBC red stuff all around along with stainless steel lines and Moutal 600. I really love my set up and I put it to the test just today and it was great. They have ok bit when cold but after a few times of braking they really grab hard! I actually did a 45-0 stop and I thought that I was going to go the windshield. I am extremely happy and if I were to change anything I might try the Brembo rotors but other than that I really like how it performs. Highly recommend!
I recommend the red stuff after today to anyone who goes to the track every now and then but likes spirited driving often.

^^^^^I was thinking about those but decided they were a bit overkill for what I was looking for. I would love to hear more about them though!
Oh and I fergot to say that the red stuff have not thrown any dust on my wheels what so ever. They are probably the cleanest aggressive pad I have ever ran!

I like the Green Stuff, they're good for daily driving, not good for the track, see this thread:

When you select a pad composition you must know the desired friction number at each temperature you wish to operate the brakes. Failure to get this information will sure leave you unhappy.
You must also acquire the friction vs application speed curve which varies as at high vs medium vs low speed a thermal boundry develops.
Every manufacture of pads tests everyone else's is secret compounds [not very secret] and tries to juggle the multi dozens of additives to save costs [of materials] and meet some target.

Yeah I really like them! They work great for daily driving and also perform at the the track. If you track the car a lot you will surely notice that you are going through the pads quickly but they will still perform. They are good for a single run on the auto x track but then need to be cooled back down before you run it again. Repeated times around a track (hot lapping) will be to much for these pads.
