How long are they good for?

I`m looking into some Tein S-techs that reportedly work well with the stock shocks. My Z is an 03` with 22k miles on it. Not driven on rough roads.

What do you think? I`m on the fence as far as spending $500 for Tokico D-spec shocks. Nice to have, but maybe not needed for a while.

47,000 miles and mine are fine. I think.

 

By 4 years or 60,000 miles most struts/shocks are significantly worn in rebound stiffness. About half what they were brand new. Why only those that leak externally are covered under warranty..........like tires and brakes, a wear item.

Rubber bushings in suspension usually function until the warranty expires by design.
Replacement of everything rubber isolated every 100k is usually the norm.

Why cars depereciate so much at 100k/8 years so much needs replacing to return to as brand new.

Over the years I've used 60k as the replacement point

 

That applies to OEM springs, but how about aftermarket?

 

tokico d specs are the best mod I have ever done. Wish I had done mine a long time ago. I have the tein s techs on mine aswell. The ride quality is night and day.

 

adjustable shocks allow you to get more ride time out of them by having them set on soft and making them stiffer as the shock wears down. This way, theres no change in ride quality over time.

 

I have Tein S techs on my oe, shocks and I think they are shot now. Car has a total of 25k miles, about 10k with the new springs. The car is very bouncy lately, wasnt like this before. I am assuming its the shocks. Looking to get some Tokicos after I replace my brakes.
