Hey Guys,

This is the second time this has happened in less than a year and I really don't know what to do. Anyways, here it goes:

The Problem:

The passenger-side rear brake pad is wearing excessively fast. The passenger-side rear pad IS ON THE METAL BACKING and causing a horrible grinding noise. I just replaced the pads and put in fresh brake fluid about 3-4 months ago and I do not race the car. All the other pads look fresh and have plenty of pad/friction material left. This also happened with my previous set of pads.

My Guesses:

It seems the rear passenger pad is either constantly rubbing the rotor even when the brakes are not applied.

OR

When the brakes are applied the passenger side rear pad does all of the braking.

I really need your help in fixing this problem guys, I can't drive the car till I find out what I need to replace to remedy the problem once and for all.

you could have a bad caliper on that side? warranty that thing out and dont let the dealership tell you brakes are not covered! thats crap in this situation if thats the case?!

also, im not sure but another thing comes to mind! under the hood there is a block where all the lines come out of for the brakes! it has cross manipulation braking too...so maybe something is wrong with that?

either way i would have the dealership check it out. this is not normal for a wear and tear item at all so it should be covered if you got warranty still.

Sounds like a jamed caliper slider.

 

Thanks for your help guys, I'm going to be driving my mom's pathfinder till I have time to take it to the dealer$hip. (at least I'm still driving a Nissan lol).

Jammed caliper slider? Does that mean they'll have to replace the entire caliper or is this a part that can be rebuilt/repaired?

 

They usually replace the part. They wont let you drive the car out if you take it in. Its time for a big brake kit :-D

 

I wish I could find a BBK at an affordable price. It such being a college student, especially when I know Print Journalism won't land me the fattest check in the world. :/ Any idea where I can shop around for a BBK?

 

FYI, the pads are ALWAYS in contact with the rotor, even when your foot is not on the brake.
