Dash "BRAKE" light is on? Why?

Dash "BRAKE" light is on? Why?
Obviously you don't know why my "BRAKE" light is on. I am looking for reason the BRAKE light does come on though.
After a track day about 3 weeks ago the "BRAKE" light started coming on every once and a while (now it is almost constant). It is the same light that comes on when you have the emergency brake enabled. Is the e-brake the only reason for that light to come one?
Could the "BRAKE" light come on for other reason? Maybe some problem with ABS, or some other problem?
I plan on doing a PAD/FLUID/LINE change in the next couple of days, if one of these components is the problem maybe it will just fix itself?? I doubt it.
BTW, on track days I completely avoid using the E-brake for obvious reasons.
Any help or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-S

Check your brake fluid level. I was bedding in some track pads and the "brake" light was coming on under hard braking. My brake fluid was a little low and the light went away after topping it off.

So maybe during the track day I boiled the fluid and it evaporated through the pressure release valve?

Brake fluid gets low when the brake pads wear down and the pistons in the caliper have to move out more and more to compensate. You are probably about to need new brake pads. Be sure to check these before simply adding brake fluid.
Steel backing plates do not play nice with expensive brake rotors...

Brake warning light
This light functions for both the parking brake
and the foot brake systems.
Parking brake indicator:
When the ignition key is in the ON position, the
light comes on when the parking brake is applied.
Low brake fluid warning light:
The light warns of a low brake fluid level. If the
light comes on while the engine is running with
the parking brake not applied, stop the vehicle
and perform the following:
1. Check the brake fluid level. Add brake fluid as
necessary. See “Brake and clutch fluid” in the
“8. Maintenance and do-it-yourself” section.
2. If the brake fluid level is correct, have the
warning system checked by a NISSAN
dealer. Avoid high speed driving and abrupt
braking.
If both the brake warning light and the antilock
brake warning light come on simultaneously,
it may indicate the anti-lock brake
system is not functioning properly. See “Antilock
brake warning light” earlier in this section.

Hi guys,
my wifes 350Z has the same issues so I changed the pads and the light came back on after a few days so i topped off the fluid no difference and now the light is on continuously. Any ideas would be grarefully appreciated.

Doug.

Problem solved
I finally figured out that the level switch in the reservoir was faulty so replaced that and now the wife is off my back for another short while.
Thanks again to all those members who took the time to get involved with this pesky little problem.
