Wheel hop! How to eliminate?
How can I limit or eliminate wheel hop on these cars? My 2003 coupe had no wheel hop (stock or eibach). The 2005 sedan does(stock and see signature).

I'm not sure how either will help. I'm not saying they don't, just I don't understand.
mgtibbetts:
When you would lose traction prior to the LSD, would the rear begin hopping? Then after the LSD install the hopping did not occur? Either when heating up the tires at a strip or when traction is lost, my car hops enough to shift the car out of gear! (long story, embarrassed )
Robert K:
Did you have wheel hop before the install and it was eliminated by the stiffy ( )?

Plenty of ongoing discussion in the drag racing forum. I say the wheel hop is the result of poor technique. You are not applying sufficient power to the rear tires. The tires spin, grab, spin, grab… causing the rear axle to hop.
Fix your technique – fix the wheel hop.

I have wheel hop problems on my z as well and while proper driving technique may eliminate the problem the bottom line is that I don't want my car to have wheel hop at any time, ever, no matter what I'm doing to it. What products are available to correct this that actually work? I have a set of solid rear diff mounts sitting in a box, but I'm not sure I want the additional cabin noise that these will bring.

I attempted to adjust it on the car once and ruined the piece.. Ingalls was very cool and sent me a replacement for free.

Do you have one on your z? If you had wheel hop before did this correct it?
I can appreciate stiffer motor mounts, but I'm not sure how this could possibly eliminate wheel hop.

I'm no expert (at anything ) but I can't see how anything other than the rear suspension/geometry effects wheel hop. It's strange that my 2003 G Coupe had no wheel hop, but the 2005 sedan does. Changing the springs, shocks, camber arms... did not affect either car. I understand about changing the launch technique. But how do you change your burnout technique? I can't spin the tires at all without massive hop (and not the good kind that Lebron has).

solid rear diff bushings, aparently, is the answer.
i happen to have a set that i never installed on my Z. my car is on the for sale market now so I'll be selling the extra parts I have. I also have a set of new rear Koni adjustable shocks that can give you stronger dampening as well

Still say it's the stock viscous LSD. I don't think it puts down consistantly to both wheels with the power involved in spinning the tires from a standstill. Think about it, the tires grip and slip and grip and slip causing the suspension to bounce up and down. I had less hop on stock tires, got worse with wider stickier tires. Soon as I put in my cusco 1.5 way, no more hop.
