Default evo calipers on a z

i recently came across a friend who is getting rid of his factory evo brembos, and will give them to me for a cheap price. will these fit on a z? they probably require some alterations to fit, but can it be done?

it most likey won't. You will need custom brackets for the caliper to bolt up. Also, not sure if the size inbetween where it clamps the rotor fits. YOu don't want it to loose.

IMO, i dont' want anything custom when it comes to brakes.

You'd need some custom brackets fabricated.

is there a place that makes custom brackets?? seeing as evos and z's have the same bolt pattern, couldnt i use evo rotors??

factory evo rotors are:

"THE STOCK THICKNESS OF THE OEM ROTORS IS 32MM FRONT 22MM REAR.

ROTOR DIAMETER FRONT 320mm REAR 300mm

PISTON SIZE FRONT 40mm & 46mm / REAR 40mm

THE MEASUREMENT CENTER TO CENTER OF THE MOUNTING HOLES IS FRONT 6 ¼” REAR 5 ½” "

could we make this work??

I think some of the points made in this thread apply here too,

https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-suspension/301170-cadillac-cts-v-brembo-in-06-350z.html

unless the piston diameter of the evo calipers matches up to that of the Z, and it really is a matter of fabricating mounting adapters.

NOT A GOOD IDEA. I've thought about it as well. the upgrade kits are designed to be within ratio of the stock kit in terms of the piston size and f/r balance and to work with the master cylinder.

you will get terrible pedal feel, longer stopping distances, possible wheel lockup, etc.

I think it would throw off the balance of the car. You would probably end up spending more money converting the brakes than if you were to just buy an off the shelf big brake kit. I really wouldn't mess with the geometry of the braking system.

Looks don't mean anything, the piston sizing will be different because of the master cylinder setup, brake line length, weight distribution etc.

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but is there no difference between the 350z brembo brake master cylinder and a non-brembo brake master cylinder?

I think the part numbers are different so the assumption is there is a difference.
