Default Noisy suspension...HELP!!!

Hello all,

Yesterday I went ahead and dropped my 07 coupe on Eibach Prokit Springs (1.1" F, 1.0" R). Since the drop is not much, and I don't have much cash to spare at the moment, I decided to keep the stock struts/shocks - my car came with the sport suspension.

Everything seems great, except the fact that the driver side makes noises when going over bumps/holes on the road (I'm not referring to speed bumps, this is just regular driving). The sound makes it seem as if something were loose, so I went ahead and took off the driver side wheel and double checked that everything was tight and in place; everything was. It's a very deep yet faint "clunky" noise when the suspension travels up and down. I do not think it's the strut bottoming out, since the passenger's side doesn't do it, the struts are the sports struts, the car has been dropped for a day, and it's only a 7 month old car.

Does anyone have an idea as to what may be going on? All opinion/advises are welcome. Thank you.

Etien

the only thing i can think of at this situation is the bolt on top of the shock...if they are loose, they will make that noise so see if you can double check those...hope this helps

Thanks man...I will try this as soon as I get home! I hope you're right...since I tightened this by hand and I did not use any air tools for the entire procedure. Maybe I should just drive it to the nearest shop and have them torque both of them down with an air gun. Thanks again, I will update this thread once I do.

Yes, the top nut on the shocks is usually the culprit if it isn't torqued down enough.

btw, dont shoot an air tool on them because u can easily blow the seal of the shox...as long as the car is flat even to the ground, that should be enough to tighten by hand only...it does not require u to use air tools on them...let me know if this helps u

Genius! Problem fixed man! It was the nut of the strut as you specified above. Thank you so much! Yes I adjusted it by hand, no air tools used. Thanks a million man!
