perhaps steering rack bushings could be just another great addition to SPL's parts list

There are bushings between the rack and its mounting point on the chassis or are they somewhere else?

There are bushings between the steering rack and the mounting brackets that secure it to the subframe. There are no aftermarket bushings for this location to my knowledge

lol... well I doubt these would get much wear, but after reading the suspension improvements over at 370z.com it sounds like the 350Z rack slips a little from side to side. This may cause more than usual wear over time... but i'm just speculating here.

In my case, I had two wrecks in my car which primarily affected the suspension. My steering rack has a noticeable knocking sound when changing turning directions and there is about half a inch of play. I'm going to replace the rack soon and I wonder if a new rack comes with bushings...

yes after reading my link to the improvements it seems even NISSAN finds our rack to have poor mounting conditions leeving room for improvement. aftermarket bushing reducing the amount of side to side play sound like a nice investment to me IMO

it does not come with bushings

I replaced mine along with the brackets and hardware when I replaced my rack, just because they were cheap and I'm **** like that. There was no visible wear to the stock bushings at all

Cool thanks for the info Z1... i'm actually buying a used rack from a salvage yard. I don't know how my bushings look, but hopefully they are in okay condition because I didn't ask for the bushings. Maybe i'll call Monday morning and see if they can include them before shipping it out.

Vitaly at Pitstop put in JWT Clutch and Flywheel on my G35. He put in new belts and Unorthodox pulley on my car as well as fix some other stuff. Got the parts from conceptzpeformance. He was super honest and did great work. That was maybe a couple years ago.

Going to call up czp & Pitstop monday to see what the total will run me. Def. recommend these guys to anyone in AZ.

Edit:
Just got the car back from PitStop. The car feels WAY more solid when shifting. Not that loss that was there before when shifting gears. No more wiggly feeling when driving over manhole covers. As far as noise, if you really listen, you may hear a little more drone, but its very hard to tell. Overall, definitely worth getting. Had 76k on my car, and the ooze was already on the diff.

Hey guys,

Found out as well that I have been running with a cracked rear diff bushing. Was wondering if there are any potential ill effects of running this long term since I knew there was a problem maybe 20k miles ago, but never isolated it to the bushing until now.

You could probably use some of the bushing, but fresh struts (d-spec, koni ) would probably help you a lot more. My stockers were taxed out before 50k from autocross and trackdays.

Well in a week or so i'll have a full review on the rear bushings, i have the whiteline subframe bushings coming and the SPL diff bushing along with an OS Superlock diff all ordered from the guys over at Z1 performance.

So, the dealer recommended that sub frame bushing in the rear be replaced(said bushing is cracked). Now all I want to know is which one do you guys recommend for best combo of reliability, and price(I would assume no matter what performance should be marginally better over stock?). Thanks.

I think the only sub frame bushings out there other than OEM are the Whiteline which I put on my car.

which exact bushing are you referring to?

if its the rear bushing in the subframe that the rear diff pumpkin bolts to, the only one is the SPL

Yeah dealer said REAR bushings are cracked. He said he didn't know that rear bushing kits existed and therefore it was suggested for the whole rear sub-frame be replaced. But, the dude said if they do exist then that is the better route to go as the sub-frame is fine.

So the only option is SPL? Then how does the rear busing set that you offer from Whiteline differ from the SPL kit? Thanks. BTW this for a G35 sedan, am I to assume that if they are for the coupe they should be compatible with the sedan?
