Default Help needed with suspension rebuild

Hello friends,

I have been reading many of the excellent suspension threads in the forum. The more I read, the more I want to learn. I am upgrading my suspension on my 32K 06 350z.

The wrong set up ruined my shocks and some of the bushings. For this reason, I am looking for the correct shocks/struts for my suspension build. Hotchkis Sport Suspension Anti-Sway Bar two in the front one in the back. The car will be a “sporty” daily driver. No track days.

I will be replacing the end links, front suspension, differential bushings, with SLP and whites.

Currently I am leaning toward the Bilstein b-6.

I welcome any input regarding my struts/shock selection.

Thanks!

Not sure of pricing any longer, but my Koni 8241 SA yellow sport shocks are still going strong 16 years after I first installed them. Also, what do you mean by "Hotchkiss Sport Suspension Anti-Sway Bar two in the front one in the back" description? Are you talking about swaybar settings? Or the number of swaybars?

^^^This. I'm also on 8241 Konis and they're great. But.... will give the nod to Bilstein as a more comfortable shock but just as capable in the hills.

And yes, I was also wondering about the "two front, one rear comment". If it's sway bar settings, way to give an already understeering pig of a car more understeer.

Also, no mention on lowering. If you do, get ready to also upgrade FUCAs to adjustable and adding rear toe/camber adjustable links. After all that, make sure you take it to a shop that can give you a performance alignment.

Hello and thanks for getting back to me. I truly value your input. I have read many of your informative advice.
Sorry for my spelling: Hotchkis Sport Suspension Sway Bars I have only one swaybar one in the front and one in the back. The 2 and 1 in front and back meant to be for the whole settings.

Thanks again.

I've got about 20K on my Bilstein B8s paired with Eibach Pro springs. Great setup for street with Hotchkiss sways, worth the money, but fixed chasis height.

Hi photo2u. I really like my Bilstein B-8 shocks with the Tein S-Tech springs. This setup drops the car 0.6" so I do not need suspension components that provide the capability to adjust toe and camber. Tein S-Tech springs are relatively soft, but they provide a comfortable ride and work well for the street. Your sway bar selection is better than the Nismo bars (that are not adjustable) I installed.

Keep researching here. This site provides the most and best information for your project(s).

Thanks again for the information. I am hoping to get the Bilstein B-8 with either the Eibach Pro or the Tein S-Tech springs. I will keep you posted with my project. Currently I have the Volks TE-37 on 19 with a +22 offset. My tires are the Michellin 285 rear and 255 front.

Careful once lowered, might need to roll the guards.

Good point Mic. My rear wheel offset is 15 mm, but the tire size is 275 mm. I only rub in the most extreme suspension travel. 285 mm tires might rub, but photo2u is running a 22 mm wheel offset. If he goes with less than a 1 inch drop (something like a 0.6 inch drop), he might have minimal or even no rubbing. Not sure...

Yeah, I honestly don't know if +22 offsets will rub or not. Mine didn't but that was AFTER the guards were rolled (done only because my 9.5 +15s rubbed on a good bump) and it's pretty snug for pushing it hard. 285s on these.

I truly do not want to roll the car. I was thinking of JHC's set up of Bilstein B8s paired with Eibach Pro springs? But after checking the 1" drop It would not work.
Does anyone have the OEM spring with Bilstein? Or any other set up? How are the OEM springs with aftermarket shocks? Has anyone have recommendations for my +22 10.5 rims with 285 Michellin pilot super sports rear and 255 front same rim offset and tires.

Friends,

I will be rolling my rear fenders to avoid any future trouble. I was wondering if I need my front rolled aswell. After searching in Offerup, I was able to find someone who looks professional. Do you know someone reliable in the Claremont California area? I am doing the Bilstein B-8 shocks with the Tein S-Tech springs. I found some parts on line. However, if you have a new or mint set, please let me know.

Thanks for your help with this project!
