The calipers are the same except for thickness - so clamping force will be the same.
But you want the thicker rotor because that is where you get the gain. More heat mass and better cooling.
Probably more than $500 once you roll in pads/lines/fluid with the rest but no where near $1300 which is the min for a BBK. Replacement parts should be very inexpensive also.

[QUOTE=Havok_RLS2]I'm not sure. I woundn't think so but it's already been pointed out the anything over 300mm is pretty much pushing it. The only way to know for sure is to do a test fit.
If it does work then I'd have to say that about the largest you can go without have to alter the caliper in some way or another.
Anyone else have any thoughts on the matter?

Z1 uses z32 calipers on 13inch mustang rotors for one of their upgrade kits for the z32 and I believe they machine the caliper a bit for proper fitment. SPL sells relocation brackets for using brembo 12.8 inch 350z rotors with the z32 calipers for upgrades for the z32's and used to sell brackets for the 12.8inch skyline rotors. These don't require the caliper to be machined, but a bit of the pad area overlaps the rotor and doesn't get used.

I agree with the Z32 30mm calipers WILL WORK on Brembo Z33 rotors...If it works for the 240sx crew then I know it will work for us. I think the brackets that are already out there wouldn't have to be changed too much to make this work anyhow.

I've seen those kits - they still cost over $1000 by the time you are done - the Z1 kit is $750 without calipers ($90 + core charge each)
The SPL kit would be something like 200(brackets) + $350 (rotors - unless someone finally stopped robbing Brembo owners) + $250-300 (calipers - estimate) + pads/lines/fluid.
At that price I'd be thinking a lot about the $1300 or so Wilwood kits. Plus the large increase in rotor diameter is going to wack the bias pretty good.
It's definitely a tough project - ?? Please note I am NOT bashing the products they worked hard to produce - I'm simply stating MY opinion. I'm faced with the exact same problem on my car

Like I've been saying before... "This is NOT an alternative to a quality BBK. It should only be considered an UPGRADE from the crappy non-brembo stock system." If there are companies that are marketing these kits for more than $700 complete with everything including rotors. Shame on them.
I know I can do it for cheaper than that. Watch me.
I'd also like to add the Z1 is still developing their kit based on last known information in this very same thread. I'm not sure where you got the pricing quote of $750 because it's not even on there web site but I'm sure that if Z1 chimes in again they can clear this right up for us.

It's a different Z1 (Performance or Motorsports - get them confused) down in Atlanta that i referred to the $750 number. They sell brackets w/ 13" 2 piece rotors - can't recall if they include lines/pads whatever.
The calipers are extra - they sell those separately.

brackets are alot more money than $50 to make as well...unless you are making thousands at a time.
Case in point, I just go through making a BBK for my '79 280ZX. Used AP 6 piston calipers, AP 14 inch rotors, and had brackets and hats for the rotors built as one off pieces. Let's just say and Endless kit for a 350Z is around the same $$ as I now have invested into the kit. The brackets and hats cost me nearly $1000 to have made (again as one off pieces).
The kit will surely be less than the $1300 level most entry level BBK's go for

Has anyone seen how hard it would be to adapt the brakes from an STI to the 350z? The STI brembo's are larger than the 350z brembo's and complete sets of rotors and calipers front and rear for under $1000. Here is a full set for $900...
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1039936
A dude on zilvia.net successfuly adapted these brakes to his 240SX. Required a simple adapter for the front and the rear calipers bolted right up using 3mm washers as spacers for proper offset.

Stock Z32 Rotors are 280x30
Stock Z33 Rotors are 296x24 (or something like that)
Stock R32 GTR are 295x32
The R32 GTR may make more sense.... but only for the better thickness and the fact that you will have a 4 pot caliper...
The Caliper will bolt up to the OE Spindles but the offset of the caliper / rotor will rub slightly, so a spacer will have to be made for both the rotor and caliper...
IMHO: NOT WORTH IT! Better off keeping the OE brakes w/ better pads...
Now, putting the 350Z brembo's or Z32 / R32 brakes on a 240 thats another story... its more of an upgrade...

Jason i meant Subaru WRX STI brembo's on a Non Brembo Z car. It looks like they can be had for cheaper than Z brembos, and they are larger.
