Question Buying a 350Z

I am thinking about buying a 350Z however, I am concerned with the comments I have been hearing about the front alignment being off and the tires "feathering." I also hear things about transmissions being replaced and cheap paint as well. I really want a Z but if the car is as bad as some of these people are saying, I'm not sure I want to take the chance.

Then don't. It's a great car. Most of the issues were in the early release 03's. Paint could be better but if you don't tail gate and avoid being behid rock flingers like semi's, trucks, SUV's & motor cycles chips won't be a big issue. Plus you can always put a clear bra on it.

Thanks for the advice. I just re-read my post and I sound like a total p***y. Haha oops. I am actually close to purchasing one. I just graduated from college and I figure while I'm young and don't have kids I should have the best toys. I'm just looking for some advice from experienced Z owners about what to expect from the car.

You are being paranoid, just buy the car. If it gives you feathering problems, just sell it if you aren't already in love with the car. Chances are you'll be fine with an 05.

Another guy ruined by the negativeness of this forum. Are there cars with some of these issues, yes. Do most 350Zs have these problems, no. Just remember nobody makes a post saying how much they love their tire wear, transmission, or their paint quality. I, however, will say I have no tire wear problems, my transmission works great, and I love that Daytona Blue paint.

No car is absolutely perfect... when problems arise, that's when to use your warranty that comes with the car.

I have an '03 Track. I've had one alignment problem and check the front tires routinely. I ask the dealer to check the alignment every time I take it in for service which they are willing to do.

There isn't anything wrong with the car that can't be fixed. Most of the ranting I've read can be attributed to folks not taking the time to understand what is wrong, what can be done to fix it and working with their dealer and the service department to follow the right process. The rants are a minority. I know The Brickyard Rat will agree that sometimes all it takes is one fix and yer good to go. Most dealers will honor warranty and technical service fixes cheerfully. Some get turned off by folks who come in, making demands and dissing Nissan despite not knowing what the hell they are talking about. There are better ways to get things done.

hmmm...deja vu` here...not sure how many times I've posted this message in response to various threads on hesitation to buy the 350Z.

hmmm...no profanity edit...I guess I can cuss here all I want!!!

Thanks guys. I've heard enough. I'm getting a Z within the next two weeks. Sorry about posting this in the wrong forum.

Hey CPCarey...im in the same boat as you. I am 24 and single and make decent money so I want a nice sporty car before I am stuck with a family and a minivan for 20 years...LOL! I am also concerned about some of the gripes but even despite that I still crave a Z. Decisions decisions.

All cars have problems... go on any car forum and you will learn about those car's problems and think twice about that car as well. Get a Z, its definately worth it.

yes i agree, all carshave problems. whether it be small as dash light not lighting as bright as it used to to major ones like trannies...no car is perfect.
you can buy the most recommended car out and still pick out that one bad apple and get a loadof trouble. i think the z is the best value in its class....insurance rate is fair, more than enough power, looks great, has potential, great features, nice interior.
