Opinion: 2005 touring with 30,000
hi, i'm a noob to this forum but i've been searching and researching and been thinking about pulling the trigger on buying a Z. This forum is awesome and i love to see people so passionate about there cars.
I'm looking at a 2005 touring with 30K on the clock for $22K. I was wondering what you guys think especially considering the warranty will be up in 5K miles?
It looks like the 2005 has some of the fewest problems but also during the long run i dont want to put another 30K miles on the car and have no one to buy it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
RS

Welcome to the forum.
Note that the bumper-to-bumper warranty expires at 36,000 miles, but the *powertrain* warranty is good for 5 years / 60k mi. So you've got quite a bit left there.

it sounds like a decent deal.
Do:
-Run Carfax
-Have a mechanic you pay & trust check out the car for you.
-get all maintenance records the seller has. If "none", I'd question buying it.

I would do all The Brickyard Rat suggests. If the car passes here, it’s a decent deal at that price. The “first year” problems in the 2003 model were mostly fixed by 2005. You still have a lot left on the 5 year 60k engine/drivetrain warranty, and that protects you from the most expensive repairs.

what has already been said...carfax...reliable mechanic look it over...test drive...mainenance records.
being an 05 doesn't guarantee all of the earlier year issues are fixed, however. my 05 had/has nearly every common problem discussed from the 03/04's.

Thank you everyone for your input. I guess my question was more maintainence issues in that 30k range, but it seems like the Z is well built. I just wish the enthusiast came with leather, the step up to touring is quite a price bump.
I was thinking about the RX8 but after test driving both cars, there not even a comparison. Meatier clutch, meatier engine, all round more meat.

I bought my 05 enthusiast for 20k. I think paying 2k extra would be worth the touring package. Good job. I havnt had any problems yet, but there were no records for my car at nissan so i got the 30k service. An expense you might want to avoid? my car was bought at 31k miles
