Default car got keyed

last nite some one keyed my car
passenger door and rear qt panel.
I was so pissed but nothing I can do at this point.
my question
I tried buffing it out with NXT and Meguiar's cleaner wax.It helped a little. The scratch is not deep.but very noticeable on blk. I'm gonna purchase meguiar's scratch X tonite are there any other products on the market I should try? any other suggestion.

thanks in advance

If you can't feel it with your fingernail it can most likely be fixed without paint. I would suggest having a professional buff it out as best as possible...if it won't buff out you will have to re-paint.

Thanks Guys
the surface is smooth , but uncertain if that was a direct result of the 2 hours of buffing I did last nite

I believe what you want to try is a glaze or deep polish. On many of those they also say to not let the product dry. Try that and see if it helps.

Sorry about the incident. Recommendations are:

a. File a police report
b. File an insurance claim
c. Take the car to a professional

thanks
insurance agent advised that unless its a hit and run issue I have to diss out my deductable which is $1000.00 and I'm sure if I get it repainted my self, it would be less than that amount.
as for a police report ...I've given up on law and order maybe its just me but my last case a carjacking case Local pd held my car for 1 month for finger printing and whatever else they had to do. My insurance adjuster was not able to view the damages or order any parts for that month. the repairs itself took 3 1/2 months, during that time I was in a geo metro and paying the difference in rental becaused my insurance only cover up to $25.00, PLUS I was in school at this time and all my books and paper were in the car, since it was edvidence I did not have access to the car to even retrieve my school stuff.
sorry for venting
thanks for all the suggestions

With most insurance companies if you file a police report you can claim it as vandalism and not pay a deductable I belive...or your rates won't go up...or something like that. haha

take it to a professional detailer, they can help you as long as its not down to the metal.

I got keyed before on the IS but fixed it completely by wetsanding down the paint until it all evens out, then machine polish it with 3M rubbing compound, then follow it up with Swirl remover 2.0, and a layer of NXT. But becareful not to get too zealous with the wetsanding... know when to stop and don't burn through the paint.

I joined the Z family about 2.5 months ago and for no reason at all my car was keyed. I go into best buy and when i leave 30 minutes later i find key scratches from drivers side mirror to taillight. I used mcguires scratchx for the door since it didn't go to the primer, but the scratches on the rear body panel are to the metal. Touch up paint didn't do shat (i knew it wouldn't but i tried a cheap alternative anyway) so i have to go to a body shop...$375 because someone was jealous and probably had no self esteem and felt better destroying someone elses property. a$$holes.

Not quite the same thing, but my Max was broadsided by another car while it was parked. It tore the mirror off and did some damage all along the side of the car. This was a hit and run, happened in the evening while I was inside the house.

I filed a police report and sent it to my insurance (USAA) and they paid it without charging me a deductible (I also have $1,000). However, my insurance did go up a little bit next time the payment came around. Not by much, though.

Comprehensive coverage, if somebody vandalizes your car or something happens to it that is out of your control(keyed, bump & run in a parking lot, etc...) your insurance will pay the damages and you don't have to pay a dime to get it fixed. Depending on your history with your insurance company your rates will not go up at all or they may go up very very slightly...just depends on your history with them. If you've had them for a while and never filed a claim your rates probably won't go up at all.
