Sorry - too lazy to sign up for another car forum. =)

I bet the car looks great - you usually can't beat the depth of a carnuba. And you figure, you rewax every 3 months b/c the durability isn't that great with carnuba but people are putting another coat of Zaino on their car every week(even though they don't have to) so how are you really saving time. 4 coats a year of wax, or 20 coats a year with the synth.

P.S. I use a synth. =)

Talking The Z makes you a detailing addict

yeah, three months is nothing, plus i look forward to detailing my Z.

I agree tha Poloymers are more durable and look great on light color cars but I think Carnuba for depth is amazing.

The depth is very tough to match - on my black car Blackfire really was amazing(after using Zymol). I'm using it on my silver car and it looks great also. One of these days I'd like to try Klasse but I hear that it's tough to buff off.

I've tried lots of Carnubas but now use Zaino. Every carnuba seems to get degraded even after the first wash...on my moms Grand Am which sits outside day and night....rain or shine....it had Zaino put on it over 6 months ago....and amazingly enough it still beads water like a fresh coat of wax would.

Personally i love the Z5 on my red paint....it really helps with the finish. I agree for a garage baby like mine i don't need the Zaino longevity..but the Zaino shine is just amazing to me....sooooo clear and it reflects light like nothing else.

Basically i think what i'm getting at is use whatever you want to....atleast you are taking the time and effort to take care of your car.

I think you'll find that most of the people who use Zaino every week are doing so because it is SOOO easy. Not at all because the car needs it. Back in the dark ages, I used Carnauba (didn't know any better). It was WORK, so I wouldn't do it as often as I should. When Sal sent me a sample of his latest invention, I stripped off the wax and put on the new stuff. It was so much easier, I started polishing more often, even though the car didn't need it! It was actually fun!

Since Carnauba doesn't give you any shine or protection, why don't you just use Pledge furniture spray? It's the same stuff as what gives your carnauba product a shine (silicone oil), it's cheaper and is easier to apply. It'll give the same deep shine, and will last about 10 minutes (same as the carnauba products).

Carnauba wax is good in gummy bears but on your car?

How about me then, I'm not a Zaino distributor nor do I work for Zaino. I tried dozens of different products for over 30 years trying to find something that had a great shine, was durable and offered good protection. About 5 years ago I skeptically tried Zaino and it is the only thing that ever met my expectations, to my surprize. I've been using it ever since. If someone comes out with something that is different from all the dozens of products I tried for over 30 years I'll test it out. But carnauba products except for very minor changes in formula basically haven't changed in 30 years, they just give them different names.

Carnuba is garbage for longevity/protection.

I have tried Carnubas from the cheap crap at pep boys to expensive mail order.....they are all garbage for protection....its the nature of the wax...it doesn't last.

Carnuba is hard and brittle by nature and the solvents and mineral spirits in it rinse away very quickly.

Take care of your car with what you want but don't go bashing a product you have VERY LITTLE knowledge of...especially when you can't even spell the name of the product you are bashing correctly.
Its ZAINO...not zanio or however you spelled it....

Default Not bashing Zaino

yeah, i agree for longevity/protection for over 3 months, but I am going to waxing once a month. So I feel it should not be a problem.

As bashing, if you look at the post before about comparing Carnauba(Souveran Paste Wax. example) to Pledge, now thats bashing.

I love Zaino on lighter cars but for dark cars IMO Carnauba looks better.

Well, that's not how it worked. I was a frustrated carnauba user, and Sal sent me a sample (we were in the same car club, and he heard me griping about how hard it was to keep my car looking good). I tried it, and at the next car show I was swarmed by folks wondering what I did to my car (the first guy I talked to swore I repainted it). That made me a Zaino enthusiast, and when Sal got serious about selling his product, he convinced me to be a distributor.

So what Carnuba waxes have you tired, Turtle Wax?
I've tried Meguiar's gold class, mothers, Zymol (even that expensive mail order stuff) and others. I've tried a few synthetics as well.

As bashing, if you look at the post before about comparing Carnauba(Souveran Paste Wax. example) to Pledge, now thats bashing.
No, I'm comparing Carnauba to gummi bears (no need to compare, because gummi bears ARE carnauba wax). I am comparing the silicone oil in car waxes to pledge (oops, no need to compare again - silicone oil in both products).

Look, I'm just here to help educate. Carnauba is a bad move. Everyone seems to agree it doesn't last long. Now if you'll also agree that a soft, wet, sticky product on your car attracts dust & dirt, and when you wash it off, the abrasive dust & dirt increases your chances of scratching your car, my work is done.

If after realizing all of this, you still want to rub gummi bears and furniture polish on your car, I'll defend your right to do so.

I think it really depends on what you are looking for. If protection is your primary concern then by all means....Zaino away.

I personally switched from Zaino to carnuba because I found carnuba products such as P21S and Souveran that were easier to use than Zaino. And the procedures for applying them weren't as finicky.

I am sure it was my own faulty technique, but Zaino did nothing but frustrate me. My car is a garage-queen.....protection is not the issue. Appearance is the issue. And for my time and money, I'll take carnuba any day on a black paint job.

Just my opinion.

I used Carnuba for years until I found Zymol, then I used that pretty religiously.

In the south where I am, Carnuba doesn't last a week much less 3 months. The wax just breaks down to nothing the first hot day of the summer and literally washes off the car. You can just feel it in the paint.

Zaino is the first product I've seen that really holds up to the extreme heat and sunlight (10+ UV index most of the year) of the south. Zymol wasn't bad and actually neither was Meguire's Gold Class (that's not Carnuba either).

Looks-wise.. I dunno, on my my Z (super black) I really do prefer Zaino over Carnuba. It takes in the colors of what's around it like Carnuba just can't due to the yellow tinting of it.

Carnuba Wax just isn't an option in Texas, you need something heartier.

Actually, you can't tell it from my avatar, but I'm in Austin, and I have lived in Texas all my life and have been detailing cars for over 15 years. As I said, there are vehicles of mine for which I use synth products (I'm a big fan of the Klasse twins), but for my garage queen, I strictly use glazes and carnuba.

Oh, and neither of the carnuba products that I mentioned have a yellow tint.....strictly ivory based carnuba.

As far as the appearance....that is in the eye of the beholder.

Ah, garage queen.

Yeah, I'd probably use a Carnuba then too.

But I drive my Z every day; I bought it as my daily.

Had it since January and about to turn 7000 miles hehe.

I'm sure that up around the lake that must be a blast....

I've got a hair-pin or two in my area as well.

I will be the first to say that for a daily driver, my regimen is not necessarily the way to go.

What's Crystal Guard made of and has anyone compared it to Zaino yet? I personally have used Zaino on my Solara and my Z... but CG has me interested. Anyone?
