Default Proper Garage Lighting

I only have one light bulb/ fixture currently in my 2 car garage. I want to add much more lighting so I can properly see and detail my vehcle. What would be my best bet.

I bought three double t12 fluorescent light fixtures with 40 watt 4100k 72 cri bulbs. This is what they guy at lowes recommended. I'm not sure if this is my best option. I paid 80 for all three fixtures and 6 bulbs.

it depends on where you are trying to direct the light. In most cases I find it better to have a portable light that I can direct where the light is needed for the given application. over head light is good but you reach a point where added over head light might not really be what you need.

Yea I understand that a portable light is best for up close and shows the most detail. I'm just going for general light in the whole garage so it makes life easier when working on the car / bike.

Well I installed the T12 lights I bought, and wow, what a huge difference. If you do not have florescent lights in your garage you should look into it.

Should of went with t8's, less watts, less mercury, more lumens and t12's are being outlawed by the government soon.

But not a bad price either way.

I have three 300 watt fluorescent lights in my three car garage. They do an outstanding job illuminating everything. One of the most important things is to have the garage ceiling and walls painted a light color. That gives even more reflection of the light.

I also have a couple halogen portable lights if I need more light in a specific place.

Here is a picture............
