You purchased the car in Michigan and didn’t pay a penny crossing over the border? hard to believe, you would be the first actual person I heard from that did this congrats but 9.9/10 cases will be paying.

Explain to me how you pulled this off? Did you tell them you just purchased this car? What happened when you went to register the car? No RIV? How can this be.

Not soon. Buying a house in a couple months. I'm a first time home owner so I don't know, I'm sure a tonne of unexpected fees will pop up.

i could scan all my documents and post them up, i didnt say anything, i went to the border with the title and proof of purchase, i declared the car @ 25k and paid something like 1400, the i paid about 1800 in canada for the other tax, take into consideration that canada valued my car at 25500 with the exchange rate at that time..... i did nothing special ,

when i got to canada i faxed my recall letter to riv, installed drl cost me 5$ (i posted a diy) and went to canadian tire for my free inspection, then i was told i needed to pass a security inspection at CAA, i passed it, went to plate my car paid 1800+plate

so here it is
2007 350z 25,000
border tax 25500 @ 5% i think 1275 + other fees i dont have the paper with me but about 1450
then drl 5$
then canadian tire free
CAA 95$
the gst on 25500 @ 7.something % i think aprox 1800-1900 +plate i paid 120 (half year or something

so 25000 + 1450+ 5 +95+ 1850 + 120 = 28520 us car + Canadian plate

i have all supporting documents and i dont see why you could not do it the same way!!!! maybe its a combination of the state and the border? i know diff states have diff rules!!! OH YEAH and i paid 10$ at the secretary of state to get a 14 day transit so i could cross the border, then at the border they give you a form 1

Sorry I must have misunderstood, you didnt pay Duty, but payed the rest my bad see I thought you said you didnt pay anything at the border.. which Ive read before people claiming or hearing such things.. thats what I called BS.. not paying Duty a little more realistic but seeing how the car is made in Japan you should have paid. way to save a buck though.

DIY DTRL for 5$ .. really dont remember seeing that, I went into CT and the module itself is $60 or something like that.. he said they can do it all for around $90.. which seemed like a great deal compared to Nissan who wants $500 lol

Default Spoke with nissan canada..

The vehicle needs to be registered in the US and the title cannot change hands within 6 months, before nissan canada will honor any warranty claims.
This came directly for the supervisor at Nissan customer care.

Avandss,
Have you gone in for any warranty claims? or are you simply assuming that you have full coverage.
One sure way you can check is to call nissan customer care and give them your VIN, they will tell you on the spot if you are covered by Nissan Canada.
