I don't mean to be argumentative, but I don't see how an engine damper would reduce wheel hop on a rwd car. Engine dampers and/or poly engine mounts will reduce/eliminate wheel hop on a fwd vehicle, though. Like Goatslong wrote, solid tranny mounts and sub-frame bushings would do the trick. The trade-off, of course, is you're going to feel more vibration every time you replace rubber bushings with poly or steel bushings...

you must not spin your tires....or have excellent throttle control. there is such a fine line from when the tires are losing traction to them going into wheel hop and thats what irritates me. actually, the vdc does work well but to me it slows down the rpms too much and you lose momentum.

those with dampners i would like to know if this really works....don't feel like wasting money something that doesn't work. reducing is one thing...but i am looking for elimination

after I put on the nismo springs I noticed a great reduction in wheel hop. Not gone completely but GREATLY reduced.

i have aftermarket coilovers...hks ls+....so maybe i can play with the settings and see if i can get somewhere that way...but right now i like the way it rides

I roast 'em . . . and my main problem lies in fish tailing. I've just never have had an issue with wheel hop. Perhaps its the 10.5" rears (that still don't hold traction)

the fishtailing, or oversteer can be adjusted through damper settings, sway bars (adjustable even better), and tire pressure. my wheel hop is mainly on launch or 2nd gear spin...but i am also on stock 17's. never thought about the size of the tire being part of the problem so that brings up an interesting point for discussion.

one of these days i will be getting new wheels/tires either 9/10 or 9.5/10.5....that would be nice if that would solve the problem....and give me more incentive for buying them

I would NEVER use a solid mount on the transmisssion without solid engine mounts. With just solid transmission mounts the engine is still going to want to torque over but, with the transmission solidly mounted, this is going place alot of stress on the bellhousing bolts. Bad idea. Some thing is going to have to give. My 2¢.

Just to add to the discussion, my tuner has 9.5" rears (Z of course) and doesn't have any wheel hop issues . . . and he drives like a maniac I have stock suspension and he has Espelir springs (10mm drop). Neither of us have addressed the sway bars yet (we're poor)

I also have wheel hop in first gear burn outs, always have. Since I don't want to break anything, I just try to avoid spinning the tires. I'm not a big burnout kind of guy, but I do have to admit that sometimes it would be fun just for the heck of it. You can see my mod list in my sig, but I've tried all sorts of things and still have it:

completely stock everything: wheel hop
Nismo rims with Toyo T1-S tires (275/40/18): wheel hop
Stillen engine torque damper: wheel hop
RSR Ti2000 springs, Koni shocks: wheel hop

I've even tried setting the Konis to different damping levels, and no setting affected it. Don't get me wrong, all of the above mods were *fantastic* mods and each thing had very positive results. It's just that none of them got rid of the wheel hop. (But I didn't actually buy any of those mods to cure wheel hop, so I can't really complain.)

I'm on my way to get my new tires tomorrow (Bridgestone S-03), so we'll see if that makes a difference.

Hmmm . . . . Both of us (me and my tuner) run 19s without wheel hop . . . Does anyone with 19s on their Z experience wheel hop? Just trying to narrow down the variables.

i think you might be on to something 350g.....everyone that has the wheelhop regardless of mods to reduce the wheel hop (enginge dampers, springs, coilovers, shock damper settings, etc) has tires smaller than 19's

interested to know how you are burning your tires 350g....i can get wheel hop by just banging into second, its really bad when i'm in first and doing a burn out...which i don't do so often, but it would be nice to eliminate the wheel hop when i feel like spinning my tires

I've got the track rims on the car, they are 18's not 19's.

if you look at the size of the stock springs verses the nismo ones in the rear, you will see what I mean. The Z's stock springs are very skinny compared to the nismo ones. There may be an even better spring out there than the nismo's but they definitely help the hop ALOT.

anyone esle out there have this same result?

I've had my 19s for quite some time now (even before my TT setup) and never have experienced the wheel hop with stock suspension. After TT, the roasting progressed into 3rd gear
