KPTechnologies Shift Light
This module, like our VDC memory module, is considered to be a universal module, thus the installation instructions are general, and not car specific. I'm sure it won't take long for someone to post up a complete DIY step by step installation guide for the Zs and Gs. The installation is really simple - Ignition Power, ground, VDC/TCS switch input, and ECU RPM signal.
We are looking to price the fully integrated shift light somewhere in the $80-90 range.
For those interested, it is possible to use an aftermarket switch, instead of the VDC/TCS button. Any momentary push button switch will work.

After assembling our high quality components EVERY module is tested personally, by me, before being entered in to our inventory. Once the modules are sold we offer unlimited technical assistance and anything else needed for proper installaton.
Oh thanks Keven..... And where did you get this idea for the shift light..... Huh??? Yeah that's right... ME. Looks very nice, if I didnt have one already I would buy one... But hey you need to get installing the window thing for me

It won't be availible for purchase until I am 100% confident that it will work properly. We have already fround a few little bugs here and there, and I am waiting on some more testers to get theirs installed (There are only two installed as of right now)

The module stores the shift value in EEProm memory. The EEProm memory can retain its value, with no power, for well over five years. The downside to this is that EEProm memory is prone to corruption for no reason. In the two months I've had my module I have lost my shift point once, and Dan has lost his shift point once for no reason. I'm looking in to ways of verifying the EEProm to help protect it, but I'm not sure if it will help.

The lead is approxamately three foot, I would guess. If you would like it longer just send us a note when you place your order and we can make it however long you would like. If you would like it shorter, you can cut it and splice it back together (of course, if you already have some stranded wire laying around you can extend it this way also).
I remounted my LED in my work truck yesterday so that the LED is pointing level with my eye (the first time I mounted it flush with the Apillar so it angled down a bit). LEDs are brightest when viewed direct on, and it made a pretty big difference. The light attracts my attention EVERY time it turns on now, even in broad day light.

Just out of curiosity for those who say the stock isn't bright enough, couldn't you just swap that LED out with a brighter one, or if you want a different color do that too?
I've personally never had a problem with not being able to see the shift light, but this sounds like an absolute dream for G35's or the Z guys who don't like the placement of the stock one.

. Don't think he'll be doing this for anyone else but it's one of the sweetest setups I've seen. Thought I'd share...

Then run the wires from the two new LEDs to the same one as the stock LED. I'm too scared to try though... I don't want to mess up the $800 OEM unit.

The driving force behind the KPtechnologies shift light is to indicate shift points with out having to take your eyes off the road (or track). by mounting the LED at eye level it is possible to see the light, in broad daylight, in your periphial vision.
Working with LEDs is pretty easy, they are fairly hard to damage (you can even hook them up backwrds with out hurting them). Since they run on such low current typically you can wire multiple LEDs in parallel without worrying about the excess current draw!
Well, we are having a hard time getting people to test the modules. We sent them out for testing, but all the testers fell through, and some minor bugs have came up. The biggest hold up is the fact that my motor still isn't done, so I haven't been able to personally test one on my G. It seems like there may be an issue with the programming switch (SFLG35 has been having issues) but I haven't had ANY problems with the shift light in my truck or in my Mini (both use dedicated push button programming switches).
Once our new site launches and we finish our testing we will release them.

the shift lights are now finally ready for release.
dave we also now have the auto lock/unlock available. the rpm controller part thought is temporarily unavailable though because its is in the process of being converted from rpm based to true speed based. it will lock at 10 mph now instead of 1500 rpms. when that is ready i will let you know.
