Default What do I need to know before fixing NISMO cams?

I am recieving my R-tune cams in a couple of days and I want to do it the right and safest way

I will be doing it at my friends workshop wich he already is familiar with such a job (given that he changed some cams for Maximas)!

My car is at the agent now and I requested them to raise the idle to 850 as I read somewhere in this forum.
I know it says NO ECU adjustment is required, but I still feel that things might go wrong. Any help or feedback is most welcomed

Thanks

You may consider getting the ecu re-flashed after the install to maximize the timing and air-fuel. I had this done on my car and it helped when I had the cams in at the time.

Raise Idle to 850, advance timing 2 degrees via consult II. Car will run fine, but a/f will be a little lean without a reflash or piggyback.

I did raise the idle to 850 at the dealer yesterday. But, can I advance the timing there as well?? (not sure what a consult II is )

Nissan has the consult II and I beleive they can advance the timing for you.

I understand you're living overseas and you wont be able to get a reflash. I highly recommend getting a piggyack such as the UTEC or EU, you'll be running lean as metioned above.

Still a reflash with shipping the ecu is cheeper

Is 2 degrees of timing advancement the magic figure OR it differs from a car to another?

Flash is cheaper in a short term. What if the first time you flashed the ECU and it doesn't work well? Then you have to mail it out and re-flash it. The flash is $595 + shipping and time consuming. Also flash can't let you tune your car to the finest. with the UTEC, sure it cost more but it's better for your car. With the Utec, you can use it for NA tuning or if you go FI; you still can use it.
