Default JWT valve springs necessary w/ JWT cams?

Is it necessary to upgrade to the JWT valve springs when installing JWT cams w/ stock rev limiter or are the stockers good enough?

PS I am running around 12psi on a Vortech

JWT pretty much reccomends the valve springs and ship kit for their cams due to the lift increase. I actually have a full set of their springs in stock if you need them..

When we put the JWT Cams in Jeff's car, he ran up to 7500 RPM on stock valve springs...

But that was NA...

If you are building up your valvetrain... May as well do it proper and not take any short cuts... Rebuild the whole thing...

If you have gone so far to build a motor to hold 16lbs of boost might as well build up the top end as well?

As has been stated: "build it to last". I didn't install cams with my initial build and regretted it almost immediately. You may as well do it right the first time. Be ready to buy an assortment of shims as well. I think I spent another $150 on the little rascals.

When I had my JWT cams installed (NA mind you) we talked to Jim Wolf himself who said the springs were not needed up to 7200 rpms. He did recommend them if the car was going to be consistently ran at high rpms to prevent valve floating, but I do not track my car so I did not go that route.

Sounds good. I drive like a grand ma most of the time, I am keeping the stock rev/ limiter so it shouldn't be a problem

Your ECU is limited at 6400rpm vs. the 350Z 6600rpm, let alone that you're auto and it shifts early at 6200rpm???

Also, your running JWT VQ30 cams with only 10.541mm of lift vs. the JWT VQ35 cams 10.87mm of lift. Not sure if duration matters on valve float, but you'll have 4-degrees less duration also.

So, your setup is pretty conservative IMO.

then why were you trying to get me to buy the rev-up motor valve springs . My car doesn't shift at 6200 rpm though, it bangs off the rev limiter and then shifts because the tranny can't shift quick enough

Because in the near future I see you switching over to the EU and increasing your rev-limit.

J/K...just a suggestion, since as others have said, you might as well since you're opening her up.
