Hey Guys - new to this forum. I didn't scroll through all the posts on this thread but there is a similar thread on www.g35driver.com. Look for the thread entitled "Everyone: Check Your Oil ". I have an 06 6MT sedan that just had the engine replaced at 8400 miles. Same story as most of you guys, burning 2+ quarts every 3000 miles. Picked up the car this past Saturday. I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one.

That answers the question some asked earlier. Seems like Nissan has a pandemic on their hands.

I sent my paperwork in today. In Florida, I'm told it can be a 40 day process, so here goes...

Best of luck to you. I just had my oil changed back to conventional to see what that does to it. If I have the same problems or worse, I will be going the same route. It would be nice if the consumption stops with conventional, but I am not hopeful.

Its been 4,000 miles, and Im down 3/4 of a quart. Im not going to have any time at all to take it to the dealer, so I just added oil. I figured: 1: they will say its normal consumption, 2: there is no fix yet from what it seems, so I am not really looking forward to get another defected engine. Im just going to wait untill they have a fix, then make an attempt to get a replacement.

Same here, my engine consumes about 1 qt per 4,000 miles. Comparing to other owners, i think it is acceptable for now.

I've been running conventional this whole time so I don't have a lot of hope.

OH! For some reason I thought you were putting Mobil 1 Syn in your car. Thanks for letting me know even though I am not as hopeful now.

I have run synthetic since my first oil change. The dealer put in conventional and I still burned 2 1/2 qts in 700 miles. I did burn more while running synthetic. But it was also summer and I ran harder.
Its been 4 days since my reading and I am still waiting for the dealer to call me. I placed a call after two days which was not returned as of yet.

Nissan Australia are telling us that it's not a problem, oil loss and pinging is "within acceptable tolerances". Can you believe these guys???
They say it's a one off, not a pandemic problem. Blaming me initially for not running in the car properly and then saying I don't drive it hard enough? What the? After changing the motor, they ran it in, guess what? Same again!

They disregard these forums saying that anyone can say anything on a forum. Well, Nissan Australia, stop reading this and fix the problem!

Well. It appears that Nissan Australia is about as stupid as Nissan North America. Well, I would make sure you have a lot of documentation, then go after them when the motor prematurely bites the dust.

So exactly how does one decide pinging is normal anyways? That is the craziest thing I have ever heard. Even with the problem not being fixed with a new engine, that pinging normally says the engine is pretty much shot.

This whole thing is turning into Tire Feathering Part II. Nissan has yet to learn anything through all of the problems they have had.

This whole thing has just raised my blood pressure again about 50 points. Everytime I read about Nissan not taking this issue head on it just pisses me off!

Best of luck to you with these brainiacs.

Default 2006 model oil analysis 2nd round

I had minimal to no burnoff after 7,350mi between my last oil change using RP 10W-30 and a K&N oil filter. I did add 1 quart at 5,000mi per the burnoff I noted during the oil change prior. Which this may have been blow-by rather than burn off given the mileage.

I added the update to another thread dealing directly with oil change intervals, the POSITIVE analysis can be found here:

Hi guys!

My name is Jim and I'm from Sydney Australia. I have a 2006 350z track model and have been burning a ****load of oil. 3.5 litres in the first 2000km's, another 2 litres in the next 1000km and another 2 litres in the following 1000kms.

Nissan Australia has up to now done very little and has pretty much denied there be a major problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had no choice so have taken them to court! Have had one hearing 2 days ago where Nissan finally admitted that there is a problem with my car and have offered to replace my engine.

I declined and told judge that replacing engine is not a solution as the engine is a dud and a common problem with this revved up engine in 2006 models. I have asked for a refund on the car and nissan can take my car back.

Judge said that if I can prove that this is a comon problem, he will order Nissan to give me a full refund!

I know that many of you from around the world are experiencing the same or similar problems.

This is where i need your help. Could those of you that have experienced the oil problem please type up a brief history and outline of your experiences and Nissan response/solution. You are going to have to state your name and address in this letter as judge needs to know that cases are real and not some bull**** I am making up. I know its asking alot but if I win this and Nissan is forced to refund me the money, then it sets a precedence and anybody else in a similar position as me can do the same.

You can email them to me or send them to me on this forum.

Appreciate your help and i will let you guys no how it all goes.

Thanks

Jim

^I'll do you one better and email you a copy of the letter I sent to the Better Business Bureau and Nissan North America as part of my Lemon Law paperwork. I won't have it until Monday though because it's saved on my work computer. It documents everything.
