i think you have to prove that the problem persists even after you've attempted to have it fixed... i.e. continued problems with OC even after you've replaced the engine... after that they'll enact the lemon law where they'll buy back the car based on market value minus the mileage-used value of the car...

Some people on here have had they car repurchased back after one motor swap. Keep all your work orders! Even if its just a work order of dealership doing OC tests.

Default vin

I am looking for early VIN #'s for 2005, 350z models covered in TSB noted in this thread. Looking to link my 2004.5 VIN #JN1AZ34E04T061423 to early 2005 VIN to see if this was a carry over problem of the 04.5 and then link my problem to the 2005 model TBS.

Have called Nissan Corp to find out this info but am getting run around and them stating they can't even find the TSB. In short, they will not reveal the VIN's of the cars covered, only the make and model.

Any info would be helpful

^ That's a tough one on VIN's. Was your build date in 2004.5 maybe sold as a 2005 on any paperwork/documentation?

My G was built 11-2005 and sold as a 2006 model for example. Figures NNA won't disclose beginning 2005 production VIN's when some were built 2004 to be sold as 2005 models.

Remember seeing that too. It's buried on one of these pages here.

Guess grab a beer or two, maybe three, sit and read, read, read...

I have read more of this thread than I wanted to.. I feel really sorry for all of you going through this.. I am looking for a Z and see a ton of great deals on 06 models. I am scared to get one. I have gone back in this thread to look for some definitive manufactures dates to stay away from but having issues finding any. I recall early 05 - 5/06 dates? And even at that I assume they just changed to the V2 that also seems to have hit or miss issues? Has anyone in this thread done a detailed summary like the first post... THIS IS FANTASTIC INFORMATION!! Thanks

Yea...we called the first VQ35DE replacement a V1 (version 1) here, then a V2 (version 2) after they did some revisions starting may/june of 2007.

Don't say V2 to your dealer lol. They'll look at you confused more so than most already are in general

I heard its not entirely new... its a refurbished block... and they reinstall the parts (ie alternator, intake, belts) from your old engine....

what is up with that? i paid my money for a car with a good engine, not for it to get replaced with a refurbished

are you sure becuase they told me it was new...
anyone notice any difference in performance?

also how did you guys drive it? i tried to drive it very smooth but the guy told me theres no need for a break in so i wasnt afraid of giving it some gas time to time (actually the day after i got it i went out for a nice drive because i missed it so much, felt like forever )

.......
Replacement is not a new longblock. It's remanufactured with revisions.

It is what it is and nothing we can do with Nissan/Infiniti concerning that when they still honoring factory warranty.

= I agree.

aw man.. you too???

g/l with that, remember i was going to buy tires from you because i was returning my car back?

I ended up buying those cheapo tires brand new and I'm glad I did cuz the guy who received the car checked the treadwear like 3 times to make sure there was enough meat left, and they were BRAND NEW!

I remember the formula now...

reimbursement amount = # of miles driven divided by 100,000 multiplied by vehicle price, then subtract that number from the vehicle price

almost but not quite, the most important part to remember is the # of miles driven UNTIL YOUR FIRST VISIT TO THE DEALER for the "nonconformity that led to repurchase"

So if you had 2,500 miles on your ODO when you first visited your dealer for oil consumption testing, you would have to pay 2,500 miles worth of driving back, 21,000 miles on your car for your first oil consumption visit, then 21,000 miles youd pay back because they assume those were 21,000 happy trouble-free miles

I'd like to contribute having just gone through the repurchase settlement, and can provide to save time for anyone who is about to read, read, read..lol

here is what I was offered:

Purchase Price
+
Interest Paid
+
Sales Tax
+
License Fees
+
Registration/Title Fees
+
CA Tire Fee
+
Dealer Doc Fee
-
Usage Fee = (x miles on car on first visit/100,000) X Purchase Price
-
Payoff (if you have a lienholder)
=
Settlement Total
